“GREAT SPOT!”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

We booked our trip looking at trip advisor and this definately was the spot to stay. It is outside town by about fifteen minutes. We did Banff first staying there two nights (Hidden Ridge Resort) and drove to Jasper (Bear Hill Lodge) for two nights and did Lake Louise last. We found out it was only 2 hours to the Calgary airport so we chose this instead of staying in Calgary. The cabins were so cozy and they had firewood and the wood stove all ready to light. It was chilly on September 24th. We had dinner at their Bistro that is right on the property. It was wonderful. The owner started a fire for us in the restaurant fireplace. We were two couples and wanted our own baths so we had two log cabins right next to each other. The front desk folks were amazing, so friendly and helpful and we loved the cat that sleeps in the box at check in! We woke up the next morning to find 3 inches of snow after a 75 degree day! It was so pretty and peaceful. Since Lake Louise is not all that big we rented ATV's in Golden and would highly recommend doing this. The vistas were spectacular! Baker Creek may be a bit pricey but worth it!

Room Tip: We liked having a frig and stove and a table to sit at. We cooked breakfast in. The log cabins were...

We've stayed at a number of resorts and lodges in the Rockies and this is one of the best. It is not back-country but it has a similar feeling, but you can access by car taking as much as you wish.
We had a jacuzzi suite on the second floor in a lodge, not a cabin and it was great. We also celebrated our wedding anniversary there, bringing our own snacks and wine to supplement the half bottle of bubbly that was included in our package. We went hiking around Lake Louise on two days (Little Beehive back to Lake Agnes Teahouse & next day, Plain of 6 Glaciers) with a very nice dinner at their Bistro.
The resort is about 11 km from LL village / info centre and we went there for breakfast (coffee & muffin to supplement our fruit & juice) and picked up sandwiches from Laggans for a trail lunch. Coffee is available in the room but we had to buy some milk.
We had no concern with the adjacent CPRail mainline as the track is fairly level and the room was quite sound-proof with the door closed.

Well tended grounds, lovely staff, good on site bistro. An on site shop would be useful as there is only one general store in Lake Louse so if self catering it would be a good idea to call for provisions before arriving. We visited in August & had to go & buy fly spray as the Mosquitos were horrendous! The location is beautiful, our apartment looked out on to the river & it was wonderful.

We visited Baker Creek for our Wedding Anniversary. A short drive to Lake Louise. Our cabin was very cosy and romantic nestled amongst trees and the snow. The open fire place and no TV made for some nice R&R. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was good. All in all a lovely private getaway in our own little log cabin. Thanks for the hospitality.

The Baker Creek Resort is a great getaway location. The property is maintained exceptionally well - the red gravel pathways are raked regularly and even have perfect circular patterns raked into them. This attention to detail is amazing.

Our stay in a loft chalet was cozy and comfortable. The beds were warm and comfortable, the fireplace was set with kindling and paper and needed just to be lit. The kitchenette was clean and adequately outfitted. With no phones or televisions you are able to slow down, tune into your experience and just enjoy life.

The Bistro offers a small selection of absolutely amazing food. Our breakfast and dinners eaten in the restaurant were hot, delicious and served with speed and friendliness. Our packed lunches were the best packed lunch I've had, complete with an AMAZING chocolate brownie!

Room Tip: Cabin 16 has a queen bedroom, a loft with two double beds and one pull out couch. With four people t...

A two hour easy drive from the Calgary airport. Although the cost for a group of between two and seven people travelling in a single vehicle pays C$19.60 for a day's pass, the parks and the roads are so pristine you'll actually feel good about contributing. Pass through the town of Banff on your way and stock up on your necessities.

Our early arrival was met with an easy and early check-in. The front desk even cheerfully supplied us with some ice and a cooking pot (for the burner on our cabin's grill).

The cabin is plenty large enough for two people. The Trapper's Cabin's best features were: the Jacuzzi soaking tub; the woodburning fireplace (firewood and kindling were stocked in the room); and the extra-long porch equipped with a very nice gas grill. The kitchenette contained a very few basic necessities: a few plates, bowls, cups, cutlery, toaster oven, microwave, coffee pot and mini fridge. Grilling utensils also provided. The 2 leather chairs in front of the fireplace were nice and cozy.

Possible negatives: Our cabin was located fairly close to the road so there was traffic noise and trains were passing frequently about 300 yards from the cabin so that might bother some folks. Our neighbors were nice & quiet but the cabins are only about 20 feet apart and partiers could ruin a nice quiet evening for you.

The location is super. Less than 10 miles from Lake Louise and less than 15 miles from the Lake Louise gondola & Lake Moraine.

We stayed here for four nights. It is a good location to visit the Banff, Lake Louise and Kootenay area. We stayed in one of the lodge suites. Ours had a very specious living with a lovely private balcony and a really small bathroom. The staff is very friendly, but dining here is quite expensive. Since your kitchen has full kitchen facilities, you can also choose to cook your own meal. The room is very noisy, so if you can afford it, you should better stay in one of the chalets. I would have rated them 4 out of 5, if not for the railroad that passes near the property. And for people who haven't been to Canada before. The trains that transport goods can get really long.

Room Tip: The lodge suites are very noisy. If you can afford it, stay at one of the chalets.
