“Great, but bring your own toilet paper.”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

We go back every year. It's a nice getaway from the city. I would rate it higher, except for the thing with the TP. The only real complaint I have is that they are SO stingy with toilet paper. No matter how long we've stayed or how many people we've had in the cabin, they only give you a partial roll of cheap, sandpapery, one-ply toilet paper, and never want to bring more. On days when the cleaning staff come through, they'll leave you a roll with only two sheets of TP on it and no extra. A few years ago, six of us booked a cabin for two weeks, and found 1/2 roll in the bathroom. When I went to the main building to ask for more TP on day 2, the girl at the desk said in a really snarky tone, "Well, gee, how much toilet paper do you need?" and I said "More than half a roll for six people for two weeks." She only gave me one roll, and sneered at me like she thought i was some sort of freak. If you go into Lake Louise Village to buy TP, it's stupid expensive, so I always bring my own now, because it's easier than arguing with the staff about toilet paper, of all the stupid things to cheap out over...

Room Tip: The wi-fi is slow. There's no cell service. Good if you need an excuse to dewire.

We love the area. No reason to spend more money to stay at Lake Louise when you can stay here. Owner and staff were very helpful.

The view, a creek and bonfire at night who could ask for anything else. An easy drive over to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. Enjoyed a bite to eat and drinks on the deck area at Lake Louse. Best advise see to go late in the afternoon it is easier to get a parking space and the view at sunset is breathe taking.

Our cellphones worked great at the end of highway 1A right before you turn left to drive over the bridge to Lake Louse.

We stayed in a one bedroom loft chalet for two nights at the end of June. My teenagers slept in the loft twin beds which they said were very comfortable. It was a bit cool so we enjoyed having fires in the wood stove both nights. Our porch overlooked the scenic Baker Creek. The kitchen was well equipped, even though we just used it for breakfasts and making a few picnic lunches. We ate at the Baker Creek Bistro both evenings, once in the lounge and once in the dining room and we enjoyed both meals. It was a great spot for exploring and hiking in the Lake Louise area!

We chose Baker Creek as we wanted to spend a couple of days in the Lake Louise area and didn't want to have to drive too far for the attractions in the area. You could easily stay in Banff and travel, however we wanted to spend more time walking and climbing than sitting in a car. There is not a huge choice of accomodation in Lake Louise and you are also limited with choice of dining too. Baker Creek is a chalet/log cabin type place in a wonderful setting about 8 mins drive from the centre of Lake Louise. We had a large upstairs room with balcony, overlooking a river that ran quickly over small rapids. The place is set amongst trees and us quite peaceful apart from when the freight trains go by. The river seems to drown out any train noise which is a huge bonus. We had room only accomodation and the quality is very high, with very large room, sitting area, balcony, hot tub in room, kitchenette and good sized bathroom too. The bed was extremely comfortable and so was the furniture. Baker Creek has it's ow restaurant which we tried on the first night. I ordered fish of the day and was quite disappointed as it was presented with very little imagination covered in a lemony sauce and wedges if lemon. My wife had a slightly better meal, but we decided to try elsewhere the next evening. Baker Creek offers wifi but in our room we really struggled to get anything at all.
We really liked Baker Creek overall, but found it quite expensive for what it offered. This is possibly due to the lack of choice in the area.

My husband & I stayed with my sister and brother-in-law in Baker Creek's deluxe loft suite for a week. It was perfect for 2 couples. We loved the rustic feel of the suite along with the beautiful views of the river & mountains we could enjoy from both of the balconies. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially Heather, who told us great tips for going into Banff on Canada day.

We loved being on the Bow Valley Parkway, it was secluded but only a fifteen minute drive to Lake Louise & half an hour drive to Banff. We also got to experience a lot of wildlife just by driving up and down the Bow Valley Parkway to and from Baker Creek.

We also took advantage of the fire pit outside and cooked some meals outside to really enjoy the outdoors, the creek, and the train going by. What a beautiful place.

We passed up a lot of resorts and cabins on our adventures and we kept saying to ourselves, "Where we are staying is the best."

We'd booked a 'log cabin', or so we thought. We were in what is essentially an apartment block with logs. It did have a jacuzzi. After a long drive, it would have been nice to sit outside on the balcony, listening to the river, but a stupid family decided to have a log fire in the pit outside. The smoke made sitting outside impossible. After the unthinking family had left, I put the fire out with water from the river, and it was pleasant for a while, but our neighbors came onto their balcony - barely 5 feet away - on either side. Privacy was not the order of the day. The restaurant was very expensive and not much choice. The whole place is expensive! A room for two and a meal was $450. The owner did apologize for the smoke, but the guests need to be taught some manners, and fires should be discouraged. Oh, and I guess you could say that I did not enjoy the stay!

Room Tip: Demand a log cabin, and do not stay in the apartment block.

Inside the 1 bedroom cabin we had booked, was a small kitchenette with ample basics, and while the fridge looked small, it was deep and could hold the contents of our full mid-sized cooler.
The one bedroom on the main had a loft upstairs with 2 twin beds, accessed by a log ladder. We were with friends who had small children sleep up there in their cabin, and we had teenagers in ours. The small children needed help up and down, but were fine and alternatively there is also a fold out sofa bed in the living area, but not the most comfortable mattress. Our bedroom bed was very comfortable and cozy.
Living area has a fireplace: no televisions here.
Nice setting of individual cabins with some literally metres away from the creek itself. Ask for these cabins when booking if you like the sound of the water. There is a train track that passes nearby and one can hear the low rumble from inside the cabins, but it was not at all disturbing to our sleep or enjoyment.
Well cared for landscaping, plenty of bright red geraniums, and down by the creek is a fire pit and some stools where one can hold a campfire. Cabins also had a picnic bench on each individual deck as well as a gliding bench.
Bistro was a very nice restaurant with some outdoor seating, but if you need some groceries for your kitchenette, Lake Louise Village is about 8 minute's drive away with grocery, coffee shop, some shopping.
These cabins are a great place to relax at the end of the day. Well cared for property.
My only complaint is that for worry of the bears I wouldn't walk too far off of the property for a morning or evening stroll. We did see a bear about 1km up the highway from the Chalets, and to disagree with what one previous reviewer had suggested, it is absolutely dangerous to get anywhere near the bears or watch them eating along the train tracks.

Room Tip: Ask for one of four cabins nearest the creek if you like, and / or cabin #10 is near the bistro. All...
