Baker Creek Mountain Resort

This is a lovely resort a little off a less traveled highway in Banff National Park. It is located beside a creek surrounded by forest. There are many hiking trails nearby for all levels of fitness. Alternately, you can sit in one of the many chairs beside the creek and just relax. Cabins are rustic and have a wood stove. No phones, no TV, and wifi is minimal. We had a little kitchenette where we could make sandwiches for hiking. The closest grocery store is in Banff or Lake Louise, so pick up groceries on your way to the resort. There is a restaurant on-site with homestyle cooking. If you are visiting during the summer months and want to venture to Banff or Lake Louise for dinner, I recommend that you make reservations in advance as good restaurants are very busy that time of year.

Room Tip: I recommend a cabin as they offer a bit more privacy.

This was our first time staying here and we enjoyed it very much. The location near the creek is lovely and very relaxing to sit in the chairs and enjoy the sounds of the creek. On Friday night the staff brings out hot chocolate and marshmellows to roast which is a nice touch. They have a couple of fire pits down at the river and one night I enjoyed making a fire after dinner. The cabin that we stayed in (number 13) was cozy, clean, had a wood stove which was great in chilly mornings or a rainy day. They provided wood each day. We had a small kitchen area which was perfect for making breakfast of a lunch to carry out on a hiking trip. Yes, there are no phones, TV, and minimal to no wifi, but how great to get down to the basics and enjoy pure nature. The location is close to Lake Louise town, and centrally located to go rafting, hiking and to Banff if one desires.

Room Tip: The railway goes by, so if you are a light sleeper you may want to stay farther from the tracks. We...

Positives: a great location to 'get away', where you're surrounded by forests. The cabins are rustic and homey. Check in and check out smooth. Negatives: the young girl at the front desk was absolutely useless, providing no information on amenities on site or nearby as well as on things to do in the area when asked. The cabins we're clean on arrival but the day cleaning wasn't great (we stayed 3 nights). The internet is diabolically slow (email took minutes to load) and crashed frequently, but I'm assuming that's because they're so far out there's only cell-based internet available so it's not really the hotels fault.

Overall it was just average to me, and for the price I would not stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for cabins closer to the creek or you won't have a view

We recently stayed three nights at Baker Creek Mountain Resort in one of the lodges. We had a fantastic room and bathroom, along with a micro fridge and microwave. The bathroom was good size. There was a boil order for the water so we had to use bottled water supplied by the resort. You just can't beat the sound of Baker Creek rushing by as you go to sleep for the night. There is also a nice bistro to eat, have a drink or relax in. My wife and I were celebrating our 40th anniversary with a trip to the Canadian Rockies and this resort did not disappoint at all.

Room Tip: There are a number of individual cabins for rent - we chose to stay in the lodge. In the lodge was a...

We were surprised it was so far from town, 15 min, but ended up loving it. Saw bear each day travelling back to hotel. Stayed in the lodge, rooms very comfortable with sitting area and porch, small kitchen helpful. And, it is true, no signal for electronics.

We stayed in the Heritage Trapper's Cabin, which is a self-contained, absolutely private and romantic cabin with a jacuzzi tub and wood burning fireplace. You cannot get a much better spot for a romantic weekend! Highly recommended!

I found this little gem whilst searching on trip advisor for a true log cabin experience in the heart of the Rockies. This is a beautiful place, great location & what an amazing trip in on the Bow Valley Parkway.
TJ & Heather were there for us throughout our stay & we were soooh lucky to arrive on a Friday when we could enjoy s'mores & hot chocolate whilst listening to all their knowledge & enthusiasm for the area.My son & daughter loved it !
We were so lucky to see Grizzly & Black Bears as well as a wolf and elk.
The bistro next door is also amazing !
Ask for a creek view, the sound of the water will lull you to sleep !
Thank you Baker Creek you made our holiday of a lifetime so memorable.
