We had stopped by here a few years ago for dinner and had a great experience.,so we thought we eat here again. We had to find someone to seat us. After we got our appetizers and drinks of which they were out of the two types of beer I requested. When the food arrived the fries were cold. Our waitress did bring us some hot fries but we had finished our meal. We ordered another beer and it took about 30 min and 3 requests.

A lot like other pubs in Calgary....all ages, a few draft beer on tap (still mostly Canadian) and no Strongbow!! What kind of English pub does not carry Strongbow?!? Friends all ordered a meal or appy but having plans later I stuck to the soup of the day....dill pickle. It was ok, but weird and would not recommend or try again. Sliders looked good, steak looked tough and potato skins were average, but at least lots of sour cream. Very noisy as it was hard to hear at our table of six with music and a big table behind us for a birthday. This was all right after work.

We went here on a Friday night after having it recommended to us and it turned out to be a really good time.
There is a huge selection of draught beer on tap so being an Ex Pat I stuck with the Kilkenny all night. We decided to share the nacho's and our barmaid talked us out of ordering the large plate as she said the regular should be sufficient and she couldn't have been more correct, me and my mate were stuffed after getting through it.
The bar really started to pack out around 9:00 pm and the 5 piece band started at 10:00 and what a band they were, I have to apologise to not remembering the name but they had 2 ladies doing all the singing and they covered every genre of music you could name a truely excellent set.
This turned out to be my only visit to the Rose and Crown due to it being a good distance from our hotel but it was a very memorable one.

Great atmosphere, the crowd is mixed so you don't feel too old or too young to be there. There are often live bands that get the crowd moving. Nice place to take friends.

Don't eat here if you can help it. The food is gross and didn't even look good (and we were hungry). We were all ill the next morning from it. Yuck yuck yuck.
