Owner description: From the splendor of the Rocky Mountains to the heart of Destination Africa, The Calgary Zoo takes you to see almost 900 animals from around the world. Trek through the gorilla’s rainforest, safari over the Savannah to watch the hippos swim, or climb the Canadian Wilds to see a grizzly bear. Cool off and get beak to nose with 4 species of penguins in our popular Penguin Plunge or visit endangered red pandas and amur tigers in Eurasia! Wind down your trip with a walk through our fragrant Dorothy Harvie Gardens or sit with the butterflies in ENMAX Conservatory. You'll love knowing that every visit helps protect endangered animals at home and in the wild. NEW in 2017 is the unique and immersive permanent Land of Lemurs exhibit. Having visited Toronto's zoo, I thought I knew what to expect. A long walk with animals far in the distance. Not so!! Yes, its a long walk, but I didn't even notice that until we were headed home. The animals are kept in natural habitats but are very visible. You can get awesome photos! The staff is knowledgeable and they seem to really enjoy discussing the animals with visitors. Little exhibits, some interactive, between animal displays were very interesting. Two thumbs way up! I'll definitely be back!!

An amazing zoo, well worth a visit, we were able to see the newly born tiger cubs.

The zoo is set on either side of the Bow River and is well landscaped and kept very clean.

Guided tours are available.

I am surprised that they do not do a family ticket so the only down side of this attraction is the cost!

I went to the Calgary Zoo for the first time since I was a kid. It was a lot of fun. Even though we went with another couple, it was still a lot of fun. The new penguin exhibit was great to visit and so were the indoor exhibits for Africa and South America. The Canadian Wilds exhibit must have seen better days, though. So the newer exhibits are great, but some of the older outdoor exhibits really show their age.

Penguin exhibit had a 30 minute wait, but well worth it. We got lucky as they feed the penguins while we were there. It was just after noon, don't know if they feed them all the time at that time, but thought it might be worth noting. Kids (8 and 10) enjoyed themselves
