“Great day at the zoo!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014 via mobile

We visited the zoo twice this month, once with a school field trip. It's great to visit in the fall and spring as the weather is best for viewing the animals. We got to watch the lions and tigers during feeding! We also saw baby elk, bighorn sheep, and mountain goats. There are loads of places to stop for a snack in the shade or a picnic lunch.

“Just a great zoo to enjoy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2014

My wife and I took the train from downtown out to the Calgary Zoo. It was easy and very inexpensive. The zoo is one of the best we have ever been too and easy to get around. There is a lot of walking, but lots of places to rest or eat or use the bathrooms. They have a large assortment of animals from birds to lions and lots in between. They have zoo people giving talks at different times for most of the animals, we saw the one on gorillas which was very informative, fun for the kids and adults too. They have a large exhibit for the penguins which was lots of fun too. One of the best exhibits was the Canadian wilds which had bears, caribou and many other animals and birds of the region. This does have a cost, but it was worthwhile and very well done.

It's a great day out in Calgary! Lots to see and do. It's a decent Zoo for a small city and the penguins are super fun to watch! Worth a visit.

“Best Penguin Exhibit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2014

I love the Penguin exhibit here. I've seen a few other penguin exhibits and Calgary's has been the best. It's the most open and allows better viewing of the penguins. There are a lot of interactive sessions you can do, however they do cost more money. Some of the other animal exhibits aren't as exciting. The zoo lights at christmas are always nice, go before Christmas Day as it's very busy after the holidays

“Worth the walk, but still flood damage.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

The walk along the river was a bit rocky as there is much construction and the south entrance was still closed after the flood last spring, so I had to backtrack, but once I got there it was fine. The Canadian wilds exhibit was interesting: cougar, bears, caribou, etc... The other side, across the footbridge had the more exotic animals: African cats and so on. The only downside was there was nowhere to get any decent food. Even the big restaurant had mediocre sandwiches, wraps and fast food only, and not a beer in sight! Still enjoyed the afternoon, although the experience would likely be more fun with company.
