Lots to see. Loved the penguins, Komodo dragons, and rhinos! However, $80+ for our family of five (three kids under 7) AFTER our 20% BCAA discount, was pretty steep. I suppose there is considerable overhead.

Lions playing with cardboard boxes in deep snow... Maybe the bright blue sky and sunshine reminded them of Africa because they seemed happy.. Loved the zoo a lot

We picked a warm sunny afternoon and headed to the zoo for a spur of the moment visit. We had not been back to the zoo since the floods one year ago. There are definitely a lot of changes and still a lot of work going on. To the zoo's credit they are doing a very good job of getting things 'back to normal'.

There is a fairly large area to cover - but it is worth the walk - just wear comfy shoes. The Canadian Wilds area has wolves, cougars, bison, bears (Grizzles, Black bears - and a rare white Black bear), caribou and many others. The main part of the zoo island has monkeys, apes, Komodo Dragons and a beautiful conservatory with butterflies. Near the main gate you will find The Penguin Plunge exhibit. This is a must see!

There are several kids play areas, snack and restaurant choices throughout the zoo. Even though there is still a fair bit of post flood construction going on - the zoo makes for a great- relaxing afternoon.

The zoo is still under renovations to repare all the damage from June 2013 flood. But amazing what is there! The new single horn rinou is interesting, and of course the PENGWINS are amazingly funny to watch.

Looking foreword to the next time to see what's next.

The Calgary Zoo is a wonderful facility that cares for many incredible animal species. This facility and it's passionate team of educators and animal care staff, provide a great opportunity to connect guests with many of the animals and ecosystems of the planet.

The exhibits are set up very well for viewing and there is a lot of great information found around the facility. The food selection is average but there is the opportunity to have a deliciously large cone filled with soft serve.

For the price and experience, the Calgary Zoo is a great place for families, young budding scientists, and passionate animal lovers to visit.
