Owner description: From the splendor of the Rocky Mountains to the heart of Destination Africa, The Calgary Zoo takes you to see almost 900 animals from around the world. Trek through the gorilla’s rainforest, safari over the Savannah to watch the hippos swim, or climb the Canadian Wilds to see a grizzly bear. Cool off and get beak to nose with 4 species of penguins in our popular Penguin Plunge or visit endangered red pandas and amur tigers in Eurasia! Wind down your trip with a walk through our fragrant Dorothy Harvie Gardens or sit with the butterflies in ENMAX Conservatory. You'll love knowing that every visit helps protect endangered animals at home and in the wild. NEW in 2017 is the unique and immersive permanent Land of Lemurs exhibit. Coming in 2018 are the iconic giant pandas!

I volunteered with my grandson's grade 2 class and had 3 boys with me. The weather was not cooperative but all the children were dressed for cool and wet weather. We were able to watch the tigers being fed and learn of their habits. We visited the butterfly enclosure and also went to see the gorilla enclosure. We also went through the Penguin enclosure and the children were thrilled. The highlight of course was the tour of the new Panda enclosure with one of the zoo staff giving a talk on the habits and anatomy of the Pandas. The zoo was well worth the visit and getting to see the Pandas topped it off.

We recently visited the zoo and had a nice day. The exhibits were well maintained and the grounds were very clean. There were also a lot of little spots where you could get drinks or snacks which was handy as it was hot! The pandas were so cute!

After a few years of boy-cutting the zoo (so many animals dying?!) we decided to come back. We really do hear more about the good things they're doing, both on and off zoo grounds, so we got Engage memberships for each of us. We live on the train line and hope to come once a week in the summer!
This trip was great, the snow was mostly melted and it wasn't busy. They've added lemurs and were weeks away from pandas, so it was almost a new experience.
We're happy to be back!!

It's a beautiful place to visit but to expensive to live here. Lol. It's a great place for the whole family.
But it's not cheap. $10.00 just to park. $30.00 per adult. Take your own food and drink.
Not sure why but it closes way to early in the summer also.
The place is very well designed and the enclosures and roomy and beautiful.
Lots of stuff for kids to do.

Thank John T
