Owner description: When you have the choice of everything from a thundering steam train to antique midway rides to beautifully preserved heritage buildings and homesteads, deciding what to do first isn't easy. Located in Calgary, Alberta, Heritage Park is Canada's largest living history museum, with hundreds of exhibits, rides, shops, restaurants and daily demonstrations and activities to keep the young and the young-at-heart captivated in the past. No two days at the Park are the same, so come back as often as you like for a history lesson you won't find in any textbook. Our operating season is from mid-May to early October each year.

I was over from Guernsey visiting my daughter and grandson and for Mother's Day she treated me to a visit. To have to pay more than the normal entrance fee for the privilege of having a Thomas engine pull the train round was an absolute rip off. We couldn't have a train slot for four hours despite there not being enough to occupy a two year old for that length of time. The fact that the normal attractions were all closed was extremely disappointing as was the scheduled programme.

Hi Anne L

We're sorry to hear you were disappointed with your visit. As stated on our website, the Historical Village does not open for the summer season until May 17.
Day Out With Thomas is a special ticketed event by HIT Entertainment which runs outside of our operating season. As train ride tickets sell out many weeks in advance, we do offer a $16 general admission to enjoy the Thomas activities and a very limited number of train rides for set times in the day. We're sorry if this was not communicated to you upon your arrival and we hope you will come and visit us once the Park is open.

Have a great day,

The Marketing Team,
Heritage park Historical Village

A unigue outdoor park showcasing the history of Calgary and Aberta with original, preserved period buildings. An original working steamtrain is a cool ride and railroad roundhouse is a favorite with our kids. During the summer months the steamboat ride is a must. A visit to Gasoline Alley, showcases vintage cars and accessories in spectacular states of preservation. A working brewery is present on site, very cool for adults. Anticipate a fair bit of walking. An old-timey amusement park available on site.
If you're going to visit Calgary, you might as well make this a spot to see, it's worth it.

I really liked it especially the historical bakeshop. Staff wear historical costumes and it really felt like you had been transported back in time. Was a relaxing and interesting day, mostly outside and learning about Canadian history, quite interesting.

This is great place for visitors and locals . The history of Alberta in a family oriented venue. It is not fully open year around so it is best to visit from May to Oct. Check the website for hours and special events.

We thoroughly enjoy our times at Heritage Park with Grandchildren. They love to ride the train, the horse and wagon, and the carnival rides. Of course we tour some old buildings and talk about the history of the area, and buy fresh sticky buns at the bakery too. Little ones like their bag of candy at the end of the day to take home. They enjoy sitting in an old car to get a photo taken, and always remind of to go into the house that is just like my grandmothers while I tell them stories of playing there when I was a little girl. Its one of those places everyone enjoys. The staff are friendly and helpful. Worth a visit.
