Owner description: When you have the choice of everything from a thundering steam train to antique midway rides to beautifully preserved heritage buildings and homesteads, deciding what to do first isn't easy. Located in Calgary, Alberta, Heritage Park is Canada's largest living history museum, with hundreds of exhibits, rides, shops, restaurants and daily demonstrations and activities to keep the young and the young-at-heart captivated in the past. No two days at the Park are the same, so come back as often as you like for a history lesson you won't find in any textbook.

“Like A Trip Back In Time”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

Hadn't been to the park in years, so I decided to make a trip this weekend. The park covers a large area and has many exhibits. It took the entire day to get through everything. I always enjoy speaking with the informative and hospitable staff. They always have interesting stories about the buildings and tenants that you really cannot learn from a social studies textbook.

This year entrance includes all rides, which is a great bonus, as the train ride through the park offer a great opportunity for a rest break, and a chance to plan out your next leg of the park. The park itself is designed really well. There are many places for resting (lots of shady benches and picnic space), and the carnival area is a nice retreat for adults and children between tours of the buildings.

I really love that you can truly interact with 'people of the past' and transport yourself into each time period. It is also really neat to see certain venues being actively utilized as more than simply a host for artifacts; for example, the Vulcan Ice Cream store and candy store next door are indeed ice cream and candy stores with artifacts and memorabilia inter-meshed to set the scene. I definitely prefer this over a traditional museum, and it is a wonderful place for learning for people of all ages!

“Fantastic Day - Great Value”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

I'm a big fan now. Heritage Park has always been a great "living museum" and an awesome step back in time experience but I always thought that it was overpriced. But now that they have included all the rides: paddle wheel boat, train, amusement park, horse... into the price of admission I loved the day. We no longer felt stressed out over which activities we would choose and we really relaxed and enjoyed the whole day. Everyone of every age will find more than you could possibly see and do in one day. Sweets and treats in the town candy and ice cream stores, pool hall, train station (the bakery is my favorite stop for goodies), mail a postcard from the working post office, take part in the many live role plays, visit the haunted house, have a picnic in one of the many parks, visit the animals in the working farms, there really is a whole world to explore. It's a great way for tourists from home and abroad to experience western Canada's history. Loved it!

“A Fun way to Spend the Day!”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

Heritage Park is both fun and educational. There is so much to see and do that you probably need a full day, or even two. There is a train and paddle wheeler to take a ride on. There are also wagon ride. There is a small old-time amusement park. Be sure to check out the bakery... Yum!! There are many historical buildings, tipis, and re-enactments to see and enjoy. You can buy food or bring your own picnic. Bring your camera and sunscreen.

“Nice day out”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

Fist you start at gasoline alley which has lots of old gas pumps and old cars. A nice resteraunt is here also. This part is free before you enter. Once in you can ride an old steam train around the park. Has a few old amusement rides also. I like fort edmonton better though both are an educational day out
