Called the night before our stay (whoops, we forgot our anniversary), and were pleased to discover that we could take advantage of their weekend special rate that included our stay, valet service, and breakfast in the morning. We normally fall back on Fairmont properties as our standard go-to for relaxing and pampering, but we've been hearing good things about this hotel for quite some time and jumped on the chance to try it at a fantastic rate.

Check-in took a few minutes at most, and the ambience of calm was a lovely stark contrast of the rush hour just outside their front door. Our room was very much as pictured on their website (how often does that ever happen?), and we were pleasantly surprised at the courtesy call from the front desk around ten minutes after we arrived to ensure that we had settled in well.

We weren't able to secure an ideal dining time at Charcut at the time of booking, but were extremely pleased to discover that they provided room service (a smaller menu - expect slightly higher prices, but the same delicious food). Breakfast was a pretty standard continental, but the quality of the products served was outstanding.

The rainfall shower was brilliant (if you are tall like we are, this is a big deal), the in-room convenience bar had an incredible variety of products, the knit throw was an excellent touch, there was a salon-grade hairdryer tucked away in the bathroom alongside a quality shaving mirror....the list goes on. There are a lot of touches that really made our stay an experience, and it is with much regret that my husband was able to pry my fingers from the door frame. That actually happened.

The saving grace is that we travel to the city frequently on business each month and their location is ideal for business travellers - there are a number of corporate towers nearby and a great selection of restaurants and entertainment within walking distance. I will have plenty of future opportunities to talk the staff into letting me buy one of their heavy knit throws (which don't appear on their webstore, sadly).

My husband surprised me with a night at this hotel (after dinner at the Palliser and CPO concert) to celebrate our 5th anniversary. It was just perfect. The location is unbeatable - walking distance to everything downtown. The room was elegant, with several pleasant little touches (ice water by the bed, robes, bath salts for the tub, etc). Breakfast was great and included in the room rate (when does that happen nowadays!?). Every staff member we spoke to was friendly and helpful.
The only thing missing at this hotel is a pool. Still, we will stay here again.

My husband and I treated ourselves to a night on the town in our own town to celebrate our 19th anniversary. When we checked in the receptionist learned the reason for our stay and made excellent use of the information. We had already made a reservation for dinner at CharCut next door and very pleased to be presented with a celebratory glass each of prosecco on the house once we'd settled into our seats. The hotel staff had informed the staff at CharCut of our occasion and our waiter was quite impressed by how long we've been married! When we returned to our room later that evening, there was a little box of chocolates on the dresser and a note from the staff congratulating us on our anniversary. I can well imagine this becoming our special anniversary treat to ourselves over the next years.
The room was lovely - comfy bed, luxurious bedding, spa-like shower, key-controlled lighting, well-stocked mini-bar, soft nightlight in the bathroom, room number etched on the bathroom glasses, umbrella in the closet just-in-case. The breakfast the next morning (included in the room rate) was all that we needed although some gluten-free bread choices would be nice :)

Between the decor, ambiance, tiny details, room amenties, and the HUGE TUB we just wanted to move in... also got 1 hr massages for us both and ate at the Char downstairs - incredible meal ! Very romantic, delicious and comfortable stay - should have stayed 2 nights!

I was planning on staying in Banff, but I don't really like any of the hotels there because they're old and not very nice. Instead I booked this hotel in Calgary for a couple of nights and drove to Banff for the day.

My hotel room was absolutely amazing! It was incredibly spacious and the decor was very modern. My favorite part of the room was the bathroom; the rain fall shower head is huge and everything was spotless. The continental breakfast had a very good assortment, and hotel staff were very courteous. Also, great location in downtown.
The only bad thing was that I could hear cars driving by early in the morning, but front desk provides earplugs.
