“Calgary’s best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2011

I had been a bit hesitant to stay at Le Germain as some of the earlier reviews were mixed. The hotel is new and has only open for about a year. It is beautiful simple, clean, modern and elegant. Some new fashionable hotels tend to cater to under 30s and scoff a bit at older people however that is not the case at Le Germain where we were greeted with smiling faces and an staff eager to help. The bathroom was huge, glorious and efficient. Molton Brown toiletries are nice touch as is finding dispensers in the bathroom that cut down on the use of plastic.

Breakfast is continental and in my mind not fabulous as when on the road I like hot food but not porridge, an apparent hit with others. We didn’t have an opportunity to try the restaurant; it opens at noon, however head that the chef is fantastic.

Thanks for a wonderful stay. Le Germain will be our first pick in Calgary in the future.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor, close to the elevator

I had not heard of this hotel, but it came up in my corporate online travel website so I decided to give it a try. What a pleasant surprise. Everything was perfect. The room was ultra-modern and stylish. The bed comfortable, the linens and pillows were excellent, the lighting good, and the tempurature perfect. I'm 6' 4" tall, and I very often have to duck to shower, but not this time. The walk-in shower had a huge square head that was more than high enough for me to stand beneath. I figured out that the best way to work it was to direct the water through the hand held wand until the termperature stabalizes, then switch over to the shower.

The room was so stylish that I took a bunch of pictures with my phone to show everybody. The shot they like the best is the one of the glassware in the bathroom. The glasses have the room number engraved on them!

The continental breakfast was very good. Unfortunately I stayed away from the restaurant because the prices looked a little steep. I say unfortuately, becuase I found out after I had checked out that this restaurant, the Charcut roast house, is famous. Everybody I talked to about it had either been there or was eager to try it. Apparently it is run by a woman who has appeared on a TV show featuring top chefs from across the country.

I travel frequently on business, and stay in hotels 80 to 100 nights a year. It takes a bit to impress me enough to write a review like this. I'll definitely be back, and next time I'm eating in the restaurant.

The room took my breath away. Loved the bathroom : from the shower to the mirrors to the soaps. The lighting was great with the dimmers. The beds were very comfortable. The designers of the hotel & rooms did a fantastic job. The breakfast room was wonderful with great music & atmosphere. The staff couldn't be more helpful, as they let us keep our car in the garage after checkout. We loved the design of the wooden blinds, but a blackout shade would have let in less light. Our best hotel ever!

I have stayed at all the major hotels in Calgary and Le Germain is easily the front runner.
Starting with the staff, very friendly and thoughtful, Jill and Amanda, thank you
The rooms are fantastic and the beds could be compared to sleeping
on clouds.
The breakfast is perfect for the business traveller, quick with everything you need.
I cannot say enough about this hotel and would highly recommend it.

Very modern hotel in Downtown Calgary.
Great location close to all the major offices of the area, the design is very cool and the bathroom very enjoyable (particularly the rainforest shower with Molton Brown products).
Great value !
The only minus is the room service menu which I find pricey and quite limited.
