Ours was just a short trip; we arrived a little past midnight for the first of only two nights and were exhausted from the long 16-hour drive. Miguel at the front desk was accommodating and helpful, which is what we all hope for after a grueling road trip, right? We were given a suite facing west--not a good view--but with two rooms and large, comfy beds.
The suites are rather dated and need a bit more carpet cleaning at the corners, plus the masters' oddly did not have a door lock (which I hope was just an oversight and would be looked into in the future), but these are minor faults. Overall, the stay was wonderful because we had everything we needed for that two-night stay: a mini-kitchen, a coffeemaker, cutlery and china, a clean bathroom with strong enough warm water for a relaxing shower, daily breakfast (not a large spread as in other fancier hotels, but still good value for what you pay for), a small 'business centre' where I was able to photocopy one document, the daily paper, free basement parking, and additional toiletries when you need them.
All that's left for you to do is look for places to eat at downtown as there's no room service nor nearby restaurants. However, on the odd chance you're craving for a midnight snack, some pizza places or Chinese restaurants nearby can deliver to your suite for a minimal fee. There are also vending machines for snacks and soda in the hallways.
I was looking for a simple and quiet place to stay at in downtown Calgary and I got it. The icing on the cake are the friendly staff, from the night shifter to the gentleman and the lady at the desk in the daytime, to the maintenance guy at the basement parking lot and the pleasant woman at the breakfast dining hall. Would definitely return and even recommend to friends.
