Larger rooms with small kitchen facility - a great deal for the price as well as great location just off 17th ave. where there are numerous restaurants and coffee places. ALSO: free parking which makes the room price even a better deal.

When I first checked in I asked for an upgrade as a Best Western Diamond member. I was told that they had put me in a King Suite which was already an upgrade so we will just leave it. When I booked the three rooms I booked three King Suites. I was the only BW member of our group. We all got the same rooms. She did say I was entitled to a bottle of water though. There was nothing special about the "King Suite" room. The HVAC system was extremely loud and continually woke me up through out the night. The internet was the slowest I have ever experienced while travelling. Overall it is not what I'm used to for a Best Western "Plus".

Dear DeanLind,

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review of our hotel!
We are so sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us!
Guest satisfaction is of utmost importance to us at Best Western Downtown, and we would love to have the opportunity to discuss your concerns with you.
We notice that the location was not satisfactory, we would be happy to suggest alternate Best Western locations that may better suit your business needs.
Regarding the room upgrade, the "King Suites" are our premium suites, and as you booked the King Suites for all 3 of your room bookings, unfortunately we had no higher upgrade to offer you. We did however, place you in a corner suite, which are the most requested of all suites.
We must admit we were very surprised to hear you found the internet slow, we pride ourselves on speedy connections (we have 200 mb of fiber optics). We offer a 24/7/365 customer help line for anyone experiencing any issues whatsoever, as indicated on the splash page when you sign on. These facilitators are 2nd to none and can quickly correct any connection problems that you may be experiencing.

Again, we are sorry for any inconvenience you experienced during your stay and please feel free to contact the undersigned if you wish to discuss any of the above, we are here and always happy to help!

Warmest regards,

George Dahbour

Wife and I went to this location for a weekend of rest, relaxation and escape room fun. There was a company within 3 blocks walk of the hotel and all others were within great driving distance. We were met on check in by a very helpful lady who helped us with easy directions to how to park (either above or below ground), gave us all the information we needed about the breakfast and rooms and we walked away feeling that if there was a problem it would be taken care of immediately. The room was spacious and reasonably priced. The thing that got both my wife and I was the breakfast that was included. Often when we hear included breakfast we walk down expecting a bin of cold pastries (stale danish and maybe a muffin that is crusting over) with a pitcher of juice (orange, apple and some fruit punch thing) and that is about it. This breakfast had eggs, sausage and hash browns in a warmer, yoghurt, toast, coffee/tea, fruit salad and (my wife's delight) a waffle machine that the staff was helpful in instructing her on the use with a good amount of fixings to make her morning complete. I would say family, couples, business...a good place to stay in downtown Calgary.

Ours was just a short trip; we arrived a little past midnight for the first of only two nights and were exhausted from the long 16-hour drive. Miguel at the front desk was accommodating and helpful, which is what we all hope for after a grueling road trip, right? We were given a suite facing west--not a good view--but with two rooms and large, comfy beds.

The suites are rather dated and need a bit more carpet cleaning at the corners, plus the masters' oddly did not have a door lock (which I hope was just an oversight and would be looked into in the future), but these are minor faults. Overall, the stay was wonderful because we had everything we needed for that two-night stay: a mini-kitchen, a coffeemaker, cutlery and china, a clean bathroom with strong enough warm water for a relaxing shower, daily breakfast (not a large spread as in other fancier hotels, but still good value for what you pay for), a small 'business centre' where I was able to photocopy one document, the daily paper, free basement parking, and additional toiletries when you need them.

All that's left for you to do is look for places to eat at downtown as there's no room service nor nearby restaurants. However, on the odd chance you're craving for a midnight snack, some pizza places or Chinese restaurants nearby can deliver to your suite for a minimal fee. There are also vending machines for snacks and soda in the hallways.

I was looking for a simple and quiet place to stay at in downtown Calgary and I got it. The icing on the cake are the friendly staff, from the night shifter to the gentleman and the lady at the desk in the daytime, to the maintenance guy at the basement parking lot and the pleasant woman at the breakfast dining hall. Would definitely return and even recommend to friends.

Room tip: Choose rooms on the higher floors, facing northeast, for a view of downtown.

Dear Linet P,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback!

We appreciate your great comments regarding our friendly staff.
With regards to the bedroom lock, all of our suites have passageway locks and not privacy. We only use privacy locks for the bathrooms. However, if you are back and would prefer a privacy lock on your bedroom door, we will be more than happy to accommodate your request.
We thank you for your review and look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

We stayed here on the 3rd for 1 night and were treated very good from check in to check out. We were put in a "King Suite" which was very nice and large and clean. The only complaint was, the couch needs to be shampooed or replaced. It smelled like stale pee and sweat so we sat on the bed to eat and watch TV.---The "Breakfast" was cold and management needs to look at better warming facilities, but other than that, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who needs to be near down town, and we'll be back again the next time we have to stay in Calgary down town.

Room tip: Get a "King Suite" if you can.
