We stay at this hotel every time we are in Calgary. The main reason is the pool and two water slides that my kids absolutely love. It's a decent price hotel w/ underground parking. Nothing outstanding but nothing bad either. My only complain is no free breakfast that usually comes with the Best Western hotel chain.
Everything you need is right there and well cared for. Their chefs produce very fine food and the service is prompt in both the fine dining and the lounge/bar. The rooms are very well appointed. The location is very good for so many things in Calgary.

Free airport shuttle is included also (it should be noted, however, that while the hotel is practically right at the end of one of the runways, the shuttle trip to the airport took 15 minutes or so - as of August 2013 - perhaps due to major construction around the airport). Not sure, but it would seem this construction affects the trip from the airport to ALL hotels designated "airport hotels" in Calgary.
The Port O'Call has two restaurants (plus a coffee bar that closes early afternoon). Both restaurants seemed nice but (not surprisingly for a hotel) a bit overpriced. Important to note that there are no other sit-down restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, so your options are limited beyond the in-house options. The two restaurants seemed fairly similar to one another in terms of menu/pricing, so there's not much of a choice between budget and expensive.
The BEST feature of this hotel for our family was the indoor "water park"/pool, which includes two long, winding slides (as well as a few other fun features) that our kids loved. I think they would have stayed at the hotel for our entire trip if it was up to them.

Our family of four (including an infant and a toddler) had a really good stay with this hotel for 2 nights. We had all the amenities we needed (microwave, crib, fridge, internet -- for free), and got a really good deal with a King size bed + Pull out queen bed Room. The pool area is great with the kids (had slides, hot tub, towels, and lifejackets for the kids). Lounge/Restaurant was a great asset too. The only problem we encountered was when I checked in, nobody offered to help us unload our baggages nor offered a trolley -- we parked in the underground garage, unloaded, and got our baby in the stroller, and proceeded to enter the hotel. We were shocked to see flight of stairs, and therefore had to carry the stroller and our heavy luggages up the stairs to get to the lobby/elevators. Also, because it is an airport location, once in a while you can hear planes passing by. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay, and would come back again! Thanks Best Western!
Good location near airport. Nice hotel with good service. Our room was on the ground floor so have not seen the floors above. The ground floor rooms are quiet and away from the front desk. Best breakfast buffet in North America. Restaurant for supper was good but not exceptional. Nice outside patio for dining. Secure underground parking at no extra charge.
We stayed here for three nights and were very pleased with both the service and accommodations. A request for a higher floor when we checked in was quickly met. We made use of the various eateries on site and found the food and staff to be outstanding. It is easy to access the hotel by either McKnight Blvd. or 32nd Ave. NE from Deerfoot Trail which also made exploring the city easy. There was a bus stop outside the hotel and the Whitehorn C-Train station was a few minutes away with plenty of safe parking. A concern about hearing planes was never realized as the room was quiet and having a microwave, small fridge and coffee pot was helpful. A second sink outside the bathroom in our room was handy when getting ready. This was our first time staying in this hotel and we will definitely stay there again.
