Stayed here for a few days after the floods in June. Staff was amazing at accommodating anything that they could to make everyone comfortable. Did a great job of reopening quickly after the area was closed.

Rooms were huge, Great location along the river, lots of great restaurants right out the door.

Spent nearly 2 weeks at the Sheraton, had a very good visit, super comfortable rooms, with 2 queen beds and a pull out sofa, had I been with my family, we would have needed only one room ! There are two flat screen TVs with plenty of TV channel choices, the system they use is kinda slow (like many hotel cable systems) but bearable, if you are a channel surfer, I suggest drinking more. Nice coffee facilities in room, daily water bottles, extra pillow/blanket, desk, Wifi was included in my room rate, this may have been a special deal though. There is an Irish Bar/Restaurant attached to the hotel which has good food and a nice selection of beer, also some real Canadian culture (east coast for some reason) on one week night, there are TV screens all over the place playing sports. There are other nice restaurants withini easy walking distance of the hotel. Some tourist type gifts can be obtained in the 'craft mall' next to the hotel. For business travellers, it is attached to the +15 downtown walking network, very accessible to many of the downtown office buildings without going outside - which was important, on this visit as the average temperature was around -20 C. They also have conference facilities with excellent catering services in the hotel.

Room Tip: My room faced the Eau Claire Market, which I thought was the better view (front of the hotel).

This hotel does a great job of being friendly and welcoming. Upon arrival for a work trip, my co-workers room wasn't available yet. The front desk was apologetic and immediately offered free vouchers to the hotel restaurant for complimentary drinks or a snack. Every day, the staff says hello, asks how our day has gone, helps with any concerns. The rooms are nicely appointment suites with a comfortable living area, small kitchen set-up and a well decorated bedroom. Try Joey's for lunch or dinner - across from the hotel with a great, reasonably priced menu.

We attended a wedding here. It was a great location, right next to the park and close to Stephens avenue. The rooms were lovely. Hotel was nicely decorated and staff were attentive. Food at the wedding was amazing. Cheap car park straight across from hotel if u don't want to use their car park.

We were very unlucky to have our flight cancelled but the saving grace was that our airline gave us a voucher for the Eau Claire. We had such a short stay but wanted to write a couple of lines. Firstly, when we checked in at 1:30am (yes this was a very short stay as we left at 9am the next day) the guy on front desk was just perfect, checking us in quickly and having a friendly chat at the same time (if I hadn't been so tired I might have remembered his name). Secondly we ate breakfast in the restaurant before we left and the portions were huge and delicious (its the first time I have ever left any pancakes) and our server attentive and friendly but not overly so, just the right balance. The only thing that surprised me, having stayed in Banff in a three star hotel with free Wi-Fi is that the Sheraton charges extra if you want to use Wi-Fi in your room. Perhaps they could include this in the price in future? However, if we ever return to Calgary we'll be back!

I want to start off with this hotel's primary draw - its location. Right in the middle of Calgary's downtown action, it's located near several restaurants and is right near Prince's Island Park on the river. Great people watching!

As for the hotel itself, I don't have many favourable things to say. The lobby is expansive but very retro with its multi colored stain glass ceiling. Not sure what look they were going for. The furniture in the lobby was incredibly dusty and dented, showing no pride of ownership and plenty of neglect. Our check in experience was cool and aloof with absolutely no explanation of the amenities in the hotel, just a simple "room elevators are to the left". The rooms are very out of date (minus the flat screen TVs) with standard fare hotel furniture (flowery browns, beiges and maroons). Everything from the towels to the bedding was worn down with poor lighting in the bathroom.

We ate breakfast at the hotel restaurant (not the pub) and found the food to be just ok. Prices are high (but in line with Calgary restaurants - $17-25 per meal). Again the furniture had dents and our booth's plastic fabric was peeling off. It just felt like an ugly place to be!

There are several much better options for staying in Calgary for business or pleasure including Hotel St. Germaine, The Fairmont Palliser, the Westin or Kensington Riverside Inn.

I stayed over Christmas at this hotel with my wife and three kids under 13. I was very impressed, the hotel is beautiful and the staff are very attentive. When we arrived at the hotel and checked in, we noticed a smoke smell in the room we were assigned, we called down to the front desk and they sent the concierge right up to take us to another room. The suite was 2 rooms, a master with 2 queens and a pullout. We used the pool many times, it has a water slide and the kids loved it, the water slide does empty into the main pool area and I saw children plowed into by water slide riders more than once, should have a cordoned off exit area.
I really enjoyed our stay here, the extra charges here are a little excessive, but are justified by the level of service offered. Overall I loved it and will return again.
