“the Inn is OUT”
Reviewed 25 February 2010

Third stay and the last.
This former Inn tries to be a big hotel now, ie Meeting room is right beside guestrooms and is in very noisy use from 8 am.
Food allergies were asked , but not taken into account, for my breakfast choices , gluten and wheat free, were : You can order everything, without bread of course!!!"-SOME CHOICE!
For a Inn which charges 350$ for the smallest room , the service and return don't match up at all.
We will not ever go back !

We had a mini-staycation for Valentine's day. We enjoyed our first stay at the Inn but in some way I had been built up to expect more. There was really nothing to complain about but nothing to say wow about as well. We also had a problem with the Chef's Table restaurant which I am writing a separate review on.

My husband and I had a delightful one-night stay in this lovely inn. It is a small hotel with nice attention to detail. Our bed was most comfortable, and the room was charming, complete with a gas fireplace. The only negatives were poor lighting in the bathroom and a lack of down pillows. The hotel lounge is modern, chic and comfortable. The waiter who brought us after-dinner drinks was wonderful. I regret that I did not get his name. Breakfast, which was quite good (several options but we chose the eggs benedict), was included in the room rate. The room was rather expensive, but I thought the stay was worth it. The hotel is in an interesting, artsy area with some good restaurants. The hotel's restaurant has gotten good reviews, but we did not try it other than for breakfast. I would definitely stay here again.

My wife and I arrived at the hotel for an early check-in and were made to feel welcome and important right off the bat! We were shown to our room and were blown away by the fabulous surroundings. The champagne on ice was a beautiful touch! Friends joined us on the patio for drinks prior to dinner at Chef's Table. The service was personal, attentive, cordial and respectful. We felt like valued guests throughout our stay! The food and service in the restaurant was beyond compare. Food presentation was magnificent and our server went out of her way to meet our every need. We adjourned to our room for coffee and desert and again were blown away by the care and concern shown by staff to make sure that we were comfortable and that our needs were addressed. Breakfast was outstanding and check-out was handled with care and genuine appreciation. Overall, this was the best stay we have ever had in a hotel. Thanks to all for making this special event something we will never forget.

We spent one night at the Kensington Riverside Inn last week, arriving after a very long flight from California. My only complaint is that we arrived after 6:00 p.m. and didn't really have time to linger and enjoy the hotel more.

Our King room had a street view. Our bed was so comfortable and the room was very charming. Most of all, the staff were so friendly and eager to please. We chose not to have dinner at the hotel, which was probably a mistake because most of the people leaving the small restaurant were commenting on how good the food was. However, we did have desert and an after dinner drink in the cool lobby. The restaurant was just closing, but one of the wait staff said she would not be leaving for a bit and would be happy to serve us! Breakfast was included in our room rate and we enjoyed our eggs benedict, french toast, omelots, etc.

The location is across from the river where there is a terrific walking path that goes on for miles. Downtown is conveniently close, too. One note to add is that while trying to find a bank to exchange currency, we walked into several "banks" that were cashless. I still have no idea what that means, but we were directed to a full service bank, so it all worked out. Calgary is so much more interesting than I was led to believe. I would love to have another visit there and would definitely stay at the Kensington again. Oh, and they leave a coffee tray and newspaper outside your door in the morning.

A quick trip from Edmonton to Calgary to drop our son off for an international flight in the early evening required an overnight stay before returning home. Without consulting TripAdvisor, we booked the Kensington Riverside Inn which turned out to be one of the best small hotels we have ever stayed in.

Easy to find, just off (Memorial Drive), close to downtown (but not downtown), and right around the corner from the Kensington Road shopping area: great little shops, funky bars and restaurants, very walkable area: all are assets of the Kensington Riverside Inn. However, even better was the Inn itself: beautiful, spacious, well-appointed rooms; helpful and professional staff; great breakfast (included in the room charge) on the sunny patio; coffee and morning paper waiting outside our door in the morning; etc., etc.

With only sixteen rooms, the Inn is one of the smallest hotels we have stayed in, but we would recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing, quiet, and elegant place to stay.

I booked this hotel for me and my Mom after our trip to Banff. I found it on the Internet, read the reviews and thought it sounded quaint. We only stayed one night but what a great experience it was! The hotel is in a great location, not quite downtown but a short lovely walk away. The room was immaculate and had some great personal amenities. The front desk staff was extremely accomodating and personal and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. They recommended places to eat, how to get around, where to go, etc. They booked us a taxi to the airport, called the restaurant for a last minute reservation, and even sent us dessert as a sweet gesture. Our stay was so pleasant, we didn't really want to leave. The rate included breakfast, which was convenient and tasty. All in all, this was a wonderful stay and we'd go back in a minute. This a great small hotel with tons of class and cleanliness, and treats you like you matter. Thanks to Robert and everyone for making our last night in Alberta great!

From, the Montreal-ers!
