“Deluxe Hotel in downtown Calgary but prepare to pay a lot more.”
Reviewed 22 September 2012

We have stayed at the Paiilser many times over the years and were always impressed with their family friendly attitude. Locks on the mini bar, kids choices on the menu, room service pizza. But some things have changed, a lot!
The restaurant and in room menu has become very expensive (and it wasn't cheap before). The selection is good and they have diabetic items which is great to see.
But Hamburgers and other fair appealing to kids will cost you 18 to 20 dollars off the room service menu, plus a delivery charge, plus a tip!
Forget about ordering out as they don't provide a yellowpages in the room anymore.
Parking has always cost extra but now it is even more.
So be warned the bill will climb rapidly at this deluxe hotel.
And no they is no complimentry breakfast.

We arrived at the Fairmont Palliser on the 11th of August for a two night stay. It is situated in downtown Calgary. We were greeted by very friendly and professional staff who did everything to make us feel welcome. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spotless. We had an excellent breakfast but we did not avail of dinner. Internet was expensive so we went around the corner to Starbucks for our cuppa and free wifi!!. Car parking was again very expensive here.

We stayed one night only on the Rocky Mountaineer holiday. The room was large and comfortable with very comfortable beds. The bathroom was small but the vanity unit was outside the bathroom in a separate area. I am assuming we stayed in one of the rooms that need refurbishing as we got the impression of 'faded grandeur' and we had nothing to compare it with. It was clean and had everything we needed and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a meal in the dining room which was excellent with good service. The hotel was central but we were not there long enough to take advantage of this. I would definitely stay here again.

You know, sometimes the upgrade just isn't worth it. But sometimes it is worth every penny. So it was with the upgrade to the Palliser Gold rooms that afforded us a glorious weekend away - while staying right in town. The hotel is located centrally in downtown Calgary, steps away from great neighbourhoods like Stephen Avenue and right next door to the Calgary Tower.

Our room was spacious and elegant, and just so quiet. We had an excellent nights' sleep under those glorious linens. Just as excellent was attentiveness of the staff, the breakfast offered in the penthouse lounge, and the cleanliness of the pool area.

The Palliser lives up to the expectations of a high quality hotel. I would quickly reccomend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing, pampering weekend away.

We only stayed one night here prior to doing a Rocky Mountaineer tour, but we found it centrally located, clean, with comfortable and well appointed bedooms. The staff vere very polite and helpful including the porters. The hotel is linked by a covered walkway directly to the Calgary Tower which is definitely worth a visit. An excellent hotel in my opinion.

We stayed for one night only before taking the Rocky Mountaineer early the following morning so our experience is limited. Our transatlantic flight was delayed considerably and we didn't arrive until around 10:00pm. We had been on the move for the best part of 13 hours and were fairly tired and weary. What a welcome awaited ! I wish I could remember the name of the guy on Reception but he was so welcoming and cheerful we immediately relaxed. Nothing was too much trouble; information about the trains the following day; best place to get a late night snack, did we want a wake up call etc. You might think this should be standard but we have met enough indifferent hotel Receptionists in our time! We were in gold - very spacious room and bathroom well equipped with toiletries and robes. We would stay here again for sure!

We stayed at the Fairmont Palliser for one night during September on the Gold Floor. Everything about this hotel ouses style and class. It is perfectly located for seeing the sights of Calgary. The hotel is clean and spacious. The service was excellent and would definitely recommend this lovely hotel.

Room Tip: Try and book a Gold Floor Room.
