I recently stayed at the BW Premier Freeport Inn & Suites in Calgary and was completely happy with the entire experience. Booking with Best Western either online or by phone has always been very easy, and the reservations accurate upon arrival. The staff here were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean and the beds very comfortable. The free breakfast was the best I'd experienced in a hotel setting. Although the hotel was out by the airport, it was extremely quiet, and the room was plenty large. Access to the hotel off the highway was very easy to find. I will definitely stay here again the next time I go to Calgary.

A very new, crisp hotel drenched in tasteful dark brown everywhere. Close to the airport and surrounded by nothing in walking distance but warehouses. The free breakfast was good by the usual standards, with omelettes made to order. The pool and waterside are plain but very good for patrons under 12. Delivers what you pay for.

Absolutely wonderful hotel. The entrance was very impressive. Staff are friendly. The rooms were very modern and sleek. We had a great sleep, and were very pleasantly suprised by the breakfast with included an omlette station. Kids loved the pool.

The rooms are very nice and the staff were very friendly, they even went out of their way to get me some milk for a late night cup of tea. The bed was so comfy (Serta Prefect Sleeper, I looked!) The breakfast was excellent with lots for hot and cold choices. They are very near to the airport so that was handy. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: We were on the 3rd floor and the view was okay. I don't think that near the airport the views c...

Arrived for business stay, very pristine, well laid out and well thought out hotel, this fits my picture of a Best Western PLUS, rooms were great, customer service excellent, I slept very well. Despite being close to the Airport I seldom heard the noise of aircraft. Great place to stay, love it, I WILL BE BACK!

Stayed here 1 night in transit to our trip to the Rockies. Hotel was very close to the airport & easy to access, front desk staff were friendly & helpful, room was very clean. Waterslide was great, pool seemed a bit over- salted, but better more than less I suppose. Free breakfast was excellent, lots of choice, hot & cold options.

We were transferred to this hotel at Stampede time due to the floods and were advised that there would be a free shuttle to and from the stampede grounds by our travel agent Barrhead Travel. This wasn't the case, the shuttle (which you had to book in advance) was running to and from the airport and a local bus stop from where you had to catch the bus into town. I won't go into this too much because it's not relevant to a review of the hotel but it was a shambles - after the first day of poor information regarding the bus service and waiting around for buses and then the shuttle which took an hour to arrive we hired a car. That would be my first comment really - you need a car for this hotel. It's near the airport and there is nothing else around within walking distance. The part that is relevant though is that considering the stampede is a major annual event and attracts tourists from around the world, train the staff properly on the local transport system to help the guests. With the exception of the waitress, (who was great by the way), nobody seemed to have a clue. This wasn't just the hotel though, within the stampede grounds we were directed all over the place and drew blank faces on where to catch the bus and what bus to catch. It was a real mess. If the manager from the hotel reads this I would suggest that for 2014 you meet with a stampede organiser and discuss transport arrangements so that you can advise your guests correctly.

It's true to say that all the above was only relevant to the stampede timing so reviewing the hotel without taking that into consideration: check in was OK - they couldn't find our reservation at first but it was quickly sorted out. We were directed to a ground floor room which was spacious and clean. We quickly discovered that the safe didn't work and reported it to reception. We had just unpacked so we didn't change rooms as the receptionist said they would have the safe repaired the following day when maintenance were on duty. The next day we asked reception to put our travel wallet in their safe; when we returned to the hotel and asked for our wallet back it took around 45 minutes to retrieve it whilst they found a manager with the safe code. The guy on reception very kindly organised a free meal for us in the restaurant, but still I wouldn't expect to wait that long. The next day we just took our valuables with us - the safe still wasn't repaired by the time we checked out after a 3 night stay.

Reception staff were a bit hit and miss. Some were quite efficient but others seemed totally out of their depth. For saying that though, I believe the hotel is quite new and they had a lot of extra guests due to some hotels being closed because of the flooding, so understandable.

The restaurant was fine. The food was nice enough and it was nice to be able to have a beer at the end of a busy day. Breakfast was a bonus, we ate early so didn't encounter delays and I had a made to order omelette daily which was always cooked very nicely. There was plenty of variety and no restrictions so you could get a good start to the day.

I would stay there again as when we travel again we will hire a car anyway and generally prefer to stay out of town so being close to the airport will suit us better next time.

Room Tip: Our ground floor room was perfect

Dear Rushden's, Thank you for providing your feedback on your unexpected Stampede visit to our hotel due to the 2013 flood and the resulting closure of your City centre hotel . We had a number of visitors stay with us that expected to be located in the city center and were disappointed to know they had to take Calgary Transit to access the Stampede grounds. I appreciate your feedback and will take your recommendations into consideration for 2014 to try and ensure all staff are providing efficient service. I do hope you will stay with us the next time you return to Calgary,
