I have tried the barbacoa, I believe it's beef tongue cooked very tender and placed in crunchy tacos with lime, cilantro etc. Looove this. I have also tried their steak in soft tacos, but nothing beats the barbacoa. Horchata drink is very refreshing as well as the hibiscus flower tea.

I was encouraged by a review from a well-known critic, and went here with a friend for lunch. The taco was OK, the homemade salsa de arbol was OK, and the bottled Mexican soda was fine. Unfortunately, the rest was not authentic and not good.
The couple who run the place were friendly and efficient, and the location was properly funky for a taqueria. Friendly and funky, however, doesn't necessarily translate into good food. My friend's guacamole was watery and BROWN...a sure sign that it as probably stored overnight. The "refried " beans were bland and next to tasteless, a result of some tasteless oil like canola being substituted for the indispensable Manteca which gives beans their rich flavor. Manteca is lard, and as Rick Bayless will tell you, lard is a requirement for some Mexican dishes despite the fact that it is held in low esteem these days. It has less saturated fat than butter, and a higher smoke point for cooking. Without it, "refried" beans are simply not tasty, and certainly not authentic. When recipes are changed to suit local customers, any claim to authenticity is forfeited.
I really wanted to like this place. I wanted to come often and eat good Mexican antojitos and fast foods. Bland beans, soupy rice, old brown guacamole, and corn tortillas from a bag just don't get it. I'll continue to make my Mexican dishes at home, and wait for someone to open a place in Calgay and do it right.

This lovely little Mexican restaurant is eat in or take-out. I have enjoyed the burrito and on another occasion tamales. Both were good with a great combination of flavours. They have a cornbread pie (not sure the name) that was a wonderful dessert.

The hosts are friendly and it is truly a place to return to again and again. I took my grandson and he enjoyed playing in the children's play area. You could tell that many people were regulars and were greeted warmly back by the hosts.

I will be back!

We were hoping to find better Mexican food - but the rice and beans that were served with the meals were not what they should have been. The rice tasted old and the beans were bland. We have eaten a lot of authentic Mexican food and know that they could do better. The Chiles Rellenos was good, but because of the lack of quality with the rest of the plate felt that it was overpriced.
