Owner description: With more than 50 twist and turns and covering a distance of over 1800 metres on a continuous downhill trajectory, the Skyline Luge in Calgary is the longest in the world and is certain to bring smiles to the faces of both the young and old this summer. Sounds awesome (and it is)........but what is it exactly? Invented in New Zealand in 1985, Skyline Luge is a unique wheeled gravity ride that provides the rider full control over their descent on a purpose built track. The unique braking and steering system control speed and direction - it's easy to learn and is suitable for people of all ages and abilities. But most of all - it's fun, great fun! The simple enjoyment of hurtling down the track in the specially constructed Luge kart as you navigate the twists, turns and bumps never fails to make adults giggle like children. And the children will beam with excitement, before hopping back on the chairlift to the top so they can do it all again. Those under 6 years old (or less than 110cm tall) can even share a ride with Mum or Dad, so no-one misses out and the whole family gets to have some safe fun. In fact, over 30 million people have enjoyed the Luge worldwide and their comments have led to the Luge slogan; 'Once is never enough'! And it's not. Most are hooked after their 1st Luge ride. It's easy to master and soon you'll notice yourself moving to the chairlift a little quicker, not quite running, but certainly walking fast.....all so you can get back to the top and do it again as soon as possible! It's thrilling, it's exciting and it's perfect for a family, a group or a team. In fact, just about anyone can enjoy the Luges. The universal appeal is what has made Luge a success in New Zealand, Singapore and Mt Tremblant already. Skyline Luge Calgary is owned by New Zealand based Skyline Enterprises. An innovative and leading tourism company, Skyline Enterprises have a portfolio of iconic tourism products within New Zealand and international Luge sites in Singapore and Canada.

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback on the Helmets, we are actually looking at a newer more comfortable and better fitting model of helmet for the Luge here in Calgary.
We also are in the process of developing a phot system that we can use to take pictures of riders coming down the track, as well as on the chairlift.
Hope to see you again.

Thank you

“Don't just book 1 run”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

We booked 3 runs and there were all worth it. Something for all the family as you can go as fast or as slow as you feel comfortable with. The team are are really helpful and friendly. Glad we did this as we were not sure. It was a nice warm sunny day but not sure how much fun it would be in the rain. Give it a go.

“The whole family had a blast!”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

Our youngest who is 7 was a little unsure of doing this at first. He thought it might be a little scary and tough to control. He gave it a shot and loved it! We all did! It was an excellent attraction we all enjoyed together. Whether you're a speedy thrill seeker or a slow sightseer, you control the luge speed and the thrill level. Our oldest who is 10 said he liked it almost as much as Disneyland. I initially purchased the family pack of 10 rides for $70. Everyone like it so much I ended up buying another 10 rides so we all went 5 times each. It made for an awesome day. The sign say's once isn't enough and it's right. The first run down gets you use to the controls, luge feel and track navigation. By the 5th time down, you really get the feel if it and can max out the speed without feeling uneasy. I highly recommend!

“Great fun for all”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

This is actually in the Olympic Park complex although it might seem separate from the tour guides. The ride is great for all ages because you control the speed and it'seems really easy to master. My 3 teens loved it because it's an open track where you drivery and can pass . We've been on similar rides elsewhere that are on a single track which takes away the competition aspect. The track is pretty long and the family price for 10 total rides, so we thought it was a good value. One warning - the grass pollen was bad today and two of us had extremely itchy eyes etc after the run. If you have seasonal allergies, take something beforehand in the summer.
