This review is based on the order of an 8oz steak, fries, veggies, salad and a glass of Guinness. Do I have any complaints about the food? No.
But at the same time there was nothing spectacular about it.
The salad with a standard Italian dressing was passable but uninspired. The fries were good but nothing special. The best of the lot was the steamed vegetables. And the Texas toast was... well... Texas toast, as opposed to some quality Italian bread. Add a few degrees and the beer would have been called warm.
All in all this place is sort of like the Holiday Inn that used to advertise "no surprises." I didn't find any surprises at the Matador either good or bad.
