This is a very nice Fairmont Hotel in a lovely setting. When blessed with great weather, as we were, eating out on their Terrace--both from the Lounge and the Dining room is very nice. They have very nice gardens considering it is a downtown hotel.
As with other Fairmont Hotels, it is on the pricey side, but the value is well worth it. It maintains a lot of its old charm without sacrificing comfort.

Room Tip: It is nice to have a river side room, both for the view and less city noise.

Located in the centre of down town Edmonton. The hotel sits on the edge of the river valley park (just 10 minutes walk). Central station (LRT) 5 minutes walk. Rooms can be a bit on the small side. We were in a Fairmont View room with king sized bed. The rooms were in good condition but some of the public areas could look a bit tiered. The hotel bar “The Confederation Lounge” was a good place to relax after a busy day, either inside or on the large patio with a cocktail. We found the the Sunday Brunch tasty and good value. Pace yourself there's lots of goodies to try.
The staff throughout the hotel were pleasant and most helpful. When we first arrived were told that our booking had been cancelled about 10 day earlier. There was a least one wedding taking place in the hotel that weekend, but the manager didn't miss a beat. She just got us sorted out with a room for the night, last room they had. By Three o'clock the next day they had figured out what had happen and had us moved into a View room as per our booking. The error was not the fault of the hotel, but they could not have been more apologetic.

The Fairmont was a great hotel in Edmonton. The lounge was a great place for a drink after work on the patio. We had a very nice dinner at the restaurant as well. I would highly recommend this hotel. All of the staff was very nice. Highly recommend. I also had an amazing view of the water.

Room 428 - as of 630 am constant banging noises and slamming of service doors. Noisy carts rolling past paper thin old walls. You will be woken up constantly so choose your room location carefully. This is a classic old hotel so rooms are tiny which is expected but bathrooms are run down with old institutional style white tiles on wall with yellowing grout. Parking is expensive at 28 self park per day or 32 valet which is common for downtown Edmonton. Online check.in and checkout is a plus. Downtown Edmonton is a dead zone at night so make sure you find activities ahead of time. Noise and disturbance from staff.beside room location makes for an especially infuriating experience but with 4 hours to checkout no point in asking for different room.

After visiting 3 fairmonts in Alberta in 4 days we began expecting above average service. The Mac Donald was a total disappointment. Firstly, the washroom handle cme right off, luckily I had a pocket knife to tighten the set screw which held it in place or i may have been stranded. Our room had no cold water, just scolding hot water. We were told no other equivalent rooms were available and given another room to shower in.

They sent 3 kids with wrenches, "the engineering department" is what they called them and that was supposed to sound better. They took 4 hrs instead of 1 hr to "fix" the problem. We were given breakfast by the manager just as breakfast was ending, but when we arrived at the closing Restuarant they knew nothing of the deal we had our cereal and left.

After a lengthy day at the Edmonton mall we checked back into the room to find a filthy tub and washroom left by the plumbers shoes. After taking a picture and then washing out the tub we found... You guessed it, the water problem was worse. Now there was no water pressure, the handle was almost impossible to turn and it didn't get hot.

Amongst all of this our room keys stopped working, twice.

I've done a whack of reviews for TA and I very, very seldom give terrible ratings but this stunningly beautiful hotel is a disaster. There are many choices nearby at a lower price with free Internet and parking. Save yourself the grief, don't stay here.

This is a wonderful spot to enjoy one of Edmonton's finest panoramic views on any sunny afternoon. The service and food were every bit as good as the scenery. This terrace overlooking the river valley is another of this cities well kept secrets. Highly recommended for a quiet, romantic meal.

We stayed here for a wedding in the hotel. Very nice hotel and rooms. Excellect, comfy beds.
Nice restaurant/bar on covered patio and allows children. Patio overlooks river valley. In the heart of Edmonton.

Room Tip: Maybe not to have a room accross from the elevator as you hear loud people in the morning. We were...
