The decor in the room do need an upgrade sometime in the near future, however the beds are very comfortable and the service is really good. One of the most reasonable prices for downtown Edmonton. The main foyer is a bit cramped when in peak times as is the entrance for parking to check in.

We stayed at this hotel for only a night. I can agree with some other travellers that the hotel does need a renovation. Despite that fact and other minor issues, we had a good night sleep. Also, the breakfast was very good.
Something I noticed is that the elevator from the parking lot to the hotel smells like pee.

Other than that, I would come back to this hotel.

Just stayed 3 nights on business at the Chateau Lacombe and found it to be pleasant if a little jaded. Full breakfast was excellent and the public areas were attractive. Rooms were clean and had a great shower but I think it needs a bit of an upgrade. Useful to have a business room with pcs and there is a small fitness room but no pool. Staff helpful and friendly. Good position near river and shops/offices. Good 3 star standard.

This one time high-end hotel is around 45 or more years old, and definitely needs some attention and some fixing. The front entrance has no room to maneuver or park and was jammed with buses and taxis. There was no place to park while checking in. The parking garage is like a scene out of a horror show with insulation and plaster hanging down from the ceiling. The staff in general were not that friendly or caring, and service in both restaurants and the lounge was very slow. Several mistakes with bills in all of them, including at check-out. There was a wedding one of the nights of our stay. The music from the wedding was so loud you could hardly have a conversation in the 'quiet lobby lounge'. The party went on into the wee hours and we could hear it all the way up on the 12th floor. On the bright side, the hotel is conveniently located to downtown and several good restaurants. There are signs in the lobby mentioning the hotel is under new management. They have a lot of work to do.

Room Tip: Up, go way up, as close to the top as you can. You get a great view and at the same time distance yourself from the noisy main floor parties. Ask for a river valley view room unless you like to look into other building windows.

As a regular visitor to Edmonton, this hotel is a favourite of ours when staying downtown. Rooms ave very comfortable with great views of the city and/or river. Very close to downtown shops and restaurants and oversize parking is close by and covered by the hotel parking fees.
