Owner description: Whyte Avenue (also known as 82 Avenue) is an arterial road in south-central Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It became the main street of the City of Strathcona as it formed, and now runs through Old Strathcona. It was named in 1891 after Sir William Whyte, who was superintendent of the CPR's western division from 1886 to 1897 and was knighted by King George V in 1911. Old Strathcona is Edmonton's main arts and entertainment district, and is also a shopping hub for local residents and students at the nearby University of Alberta. Whyte Avenue, now a heritage area, is at the heart of this district, housing many shops, cafes, restaurants and bars.

“Too Bad”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2013

Whyte Avenue use to be a great place to go and have a coffee during the day and a drink at night, was the best place to people watch...now it seems that homeless people have moved in, street performers that missed their bus are hanging out in the park...sad to see, they need to clean this up!

“Sit and enjoy the view!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 June 2013

Our first time together on Whyte Avenue, my wife and I decided to have a beer and enjoy the view. Lots of businesses for all ages. A nice area to walk and enjoy the bistros, bars and boutiques. Two excellent coffee places. Enjoy!

“Take The Time to Stroll Whyte Ave.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2013

Our first time to Whyte Ave was quite nice. Very different from other large downtown areas with famous walks that we've experienced, (like Burbon St., New Orleans, Duval St., Key West, etc.) with a good mix of upscale stores, boutiques, thrift shops and eateries.
