The food here is served at above par price and served at below par standards. My overall experience was poor from food to service, the servers were slow and incompetent, any questions instantly went to either to the manager or chef. I went there with a larger group and was severally disappointed after reading the reviews on-line. Most of the on-line reviews were most likely made by their own staff.
There is a strong fish smell covered with cleaning smells when you walk in, meaning the fish is not fresh and is rotting. Good sushi restaurants should never smell fishy and chemically. The restaurant is also not very busy as I went on a Friday night and the place was less than a quarter full, turnover of their produce must be really low and is either mostly frozen or rotting.
The "chef" is definitely trying to save on cost by making most of the sushi with rice. If you want to just get full, this might not be a bad place to be. The proportion of sushi to rice is ridiculous. I had a Dynamite roll and it consisted of mostly rice and mayonnaise. The rice itself was poorly made, undercooked with too much vinegar.
Most of the food items were skimping on the quality. One of the many obvious flaws was the tampura was battered extremely thick and was cooked at too low of a temperature making it oily and soft.
Now the actual sushi, the sushi "chef" should seriously go back to school. The many flaws in his food suggest he was never taught how to make sushi and instead saw it as a high profit business because people are willing to pay more for sushi. Toro should always melt in your mouth and require very little chewing, here it was stringy and tough.
Tamago- was un-uniform and browning with lumps, clear sign it was not fresh and not made with care. The chef has most likely got lazy and started making it once a week.
Sashimi (Salmon and Tuna)- The chef cuts it in small pieces to multiple the profit, at the end your eating pellets of fish that is very poor quality. It was all very stringy and inconsistent. It taste like he bought grocery chain type salmon and called it sashimi after he has cut it.
I don't usually make reviews, however this one was such a head turner, I believe this place should be ashamed as most of the online reviews were so good that it had to be made by their own staff. I paid almost $30 for an very unsatisfying meal and will never go back.
