University of Alberta Guest Accommodation - Lister Centre

We stayed for two nights for a conference, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Since this was the summer month, you won't get any noise from the student residence next door. The air circulation was not perfect and the heat was a bit high for May (it was already set to the lowest), we had to open the windows to let fresh air in. The building and the rooms are dated although the overall amenities (including toiletries - Evelyn and Crabtree) were not bad. Front desk was professional and helpful.

We stayed here for three nights for a conference. Room was very clean, beds were wonderfully comfortable. Access doors to guest room section is kept locked for guests only. The only noise was from a Blackbird outside our window. Price was very reasonable. We were not expecting this type of first class accomodation at a University. Staff were very friendly and willing to be helpful. Lots of great places to eat with in easy walking distance. Highly recommend!

Room Tip: Our room on the second floor was excellent!

Recently stayed for a university function. I came to the room, pulled back the comforter, and sat down but something was weird - the bed was wet (and the comforter was not). Immediately called the desk & changed my room. I checked out before the desk opened (only open 7am to 11pm). I emailed them to inform them of this horrific incident and now I have incurred dry cleaning costs (was wearing expensive dress when I sat down). I have not heard back. AVOID this place!!

We stayed here while visiting our nephew at the U of A hospital. It is very reasonably priced and the rooms are very quiet, clean and comfortable. The location is very good as we were able to walk easily about 2 1/2 blocks to the hospital. The LRT station is right at the hospital as well, so it is quick, easy transportation downtown or to the Southgate mall. Parking was included in our hotel rate and it was located right outside the building. A coffee and pastry were provided at the Tim Hortons downstairs by showing your room keys. The booking and front desk staff were all helpful. I would highly recommend this place.

Room Tip: We booked a room at the far end of the hall for quietness. We did not hear any hall traffic at all.

Basically this hotel is good for a business trip specially if you have a conference in Lister Center. Very close to the university and cheap accomodation. Internet is available although you have to bring your own ethernet cable or purchase it from them for $15. Two cafes in the same building, including a Tim Hortons (very useful in winters, you dont need to step out in the cold).

My partner and I stayed here during our train trip across Canada. The price was excellent, and the location worked well for traversing the city by public transit. The UofT Campus is gorgeous, and in walking distance of some great places to eat and shop. The centre was quiet when we visited, giving us the run of the place. Our room was a typical hotel style, and always clean. There was a laundry room down the hall which was quite handy as well. The only confusion was with breakfast, which was included in the price. It wasn't very clear what was included from the cafeteria selections, and the staff never seems to be sure either. That was just a minor point though really.
