This is one of the best hotels I've stayed in in Edmonton. It is a shame it is only open part of the year. At $120 including tax for a king or two twins it is great value as this includes park admission. While the room may be slightly smaller than at some hotels it is much cleaner and comes with a modern bathroom. Continental breakfast is no longer offered but there is a breakfast menu (2 eggs, bacon, & hashbrowns - $9.50). I have been recommending it to all my friends.

We stayed for two nights and found the room to be very clean and comfortable.

The hotel is right in the park and included in your stay is free access. we were right on the main corner and could watch the trams, old cars and actors on the street.

Although the hotel is set in the 1920s it comes with modern comforts and amenities.

We would return again.

The Hotel Selkirk is located in Fort Edmonton Park in the green belt of the River Valley and is essentially part of the Historic Park. It is not too far from the city but the location is quieter and more secluded and guests have free admission to Fort Edmonton Park. A little harder to find, but definitely a great place to stay in Edmonton if you don't have to be in the city center. Rebuilt based on plans for the original Hotel Selkirk, the property combines all the charm and character of a historic building with modern amenities. Rooms are spacious and very clean, beds comfortable, our meals and service were excellent and rates are very reasonable. Definitely will want to go back and spend more time there.

We spent 3 nights in the Hotel Selkirk and for the most part really enjoyed our stay. The setting in the park is absolutely fantastic. The park is wonderful, and you are steps away from catching a trolley, playing mini golf, or checking out the old fire trucks in the old fire station. The rooms are beautiful, and have a wonderful old style bathtub (but no shower, if that matters to you). The front desk staff were helpful and beyond nice. We did have two negatives during our stay. The second night we returned to find that there had been no maid service, so we had no clean towels (we had used the towels in the morning to clean up water after the kids played in the tub). The wonderful lady at the front desk said that there were no clean towels in the hotel (!), but eventually found some somewhere and brought them up to our room at 11 pm. The second negative involved the restaurant (stay away). When we booked our room, it included continetal breakfast. So, we went down and found a very limited supply of food (a few pastries, white bread for toast, a bit of fruit, and some cereal). Since it was free, we decided to partake. However, when we were done, we found that the breakfast was only free for 2 people, and were charged $15 for the 2 kids that ate. (Their combined food intake was probably 3 pieces of cantalope and a piece of toast). We received no sympathy whatsoever from the lady in the restaurant, but the hotel manager was very kind about the misunderstanding and offered up some zoo passes. In short, I'd stay here again in a heartbeat, but not set foot in the restaurant. One last note is that you'll need to make special arranagements to access the park if you're returning after 11pm.

What a great place for a meeting.

Located on 1920's street in Fort Edmonton, the Hotel Slekirk is a fabulous meeting place. Our group of 22 people needed a spot to host a two day meeting, and after trying several Hotles in Edmonoton I stumbled about this website which had the Hotel Selkik featured.

After contacting the Hotel I found out that for a function as ours we got to rent out the entire Hotel for our meeting. With prices comparable to regular Hotels, I decided to give this venue a try.

This turned out to be one of the best decisions I made. Along with gourmet food, king size beds and rustic atmosphere the group settled into one of the best meetings that we had all year. The staff was very attentive and accommodated some last minute changes by the organizing committee. The rooms were comforable and a little teddy bear that requested you take it home was a nice touch. After meeting times our group was able to stroll around the park which we also had to ourselves. What a fantastic experience.

The food is absolutely fantastic. From great salads to marvelous entrees to home made deserts. You can't go wrong with the choices on the menu.

All of our group loved the Hotel Selkirk, the quiet atmosphere (you would never know that you are in the City) professional staff dressed in 1920's costumes, and great rooms. Some have even made reservations to come back with their spouses. I would highly recommend this venue for whatever function you are thinking of.

The hotel Selkirk in situated in Fort Edmonton Park, just outside of Edmonton. The park is themed on the 1800's-1840's era. The hotel is on 1920's street where all the shops are old fashioned. The streets are old fashioned, with working trams, also a railway with steam train. When you arrive at the hotel you park your car just outside the park boundaries. Modern cars are not allowed inside the park, as this is also a tourist attraction. The Hotel has staff dressed up in 1920's atire, and a very friendly & welcoming. The hotel is themed around the 1920's aswell, rooms are spacious but no TV. You do feel like your living in the 20's ! It's a refresshing change to the modern hotels were all used to. Not much to to at night, we walked around the desserted old fashioned streets and fed the horses in the stables which was memorable. The park closes to the public by 1800hr,and as the hotel is in the park, you have it all to your self all night. After sunset, you must notify staff if your planning to leave the park,as you must exit via the road barrier. If you want something different,a step back in time - go to the selkirk, I can't fault it in any way.

The Selkirk is located in the Fort Edmonton Park and is very isolated. Our two night stay at the Selkirk came at the end of a weeks vacation in Jasper and the Selkirk was just the place to unwind. The kids were a bit worried about not having a TV, but had no issue once they got settled. We stayed in a Suite on the second floor at the front corner of the hotel. The kids had a fold out bed and the adults in the king size bed. We arrived to find two small teddy bears and chocolates on the pillows. The car was valet parked. We had dinner in the resturant all by ourselves. AFter dinner we really enjoyed our walk around Fort Edmonton Park which had closed for the evening. A stay at the Selkirk give you free admission to Fort Edmonton Park, which is one of the best historical parks I have ever seen. The kids played happily on the playground across the street from the Hotel and we returned to our room and played some board games that we had brought with us for entertainment. It was dead quiet and we sleep very soundly. The kids enjoyed their bath in the claw-foot tub. The room came with continental breakfast which was very nice. I swear that we must have been the only patrons at the hotel when we stayed because we rarely saw anyone else.

I would recommend the Selkirk to anyone looking to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the modern world and really relax. i would definately stay here again.
