“Work Trip April 30th -May 2nd”
Reviewed 6 May 2013

Just returned from three night trip to the Marriot at River Cree. It was a good hotel overall. The room was supplied with two double beds which in todays world seemed small especially compared to my King size at home. The fixtures in the room seemed new, the carpets were clean and room overall seemed very well mantained, nothing dirty or needing repair.
Had breakfast in the hotels restaurant and paid $16.99 plus tax for the buffet which consisted of oatmeal, fresh fruit, bread station some prepared egg dishes, cheeses and of course the made to order omlettes. Overall not a bad meal for the price which included juices, tea or coffee.
The tea or coffee shop in the lobby looks nothing like the management supplied hotel photos and seemed in need of straightening up each time I popped in, though I never saw more then one employee working at any time which can make it hard to get out and clean tables.
I was there for a conference and I will say one problem I had was the noise carryover from the other meetings going on during their chants or team work building exercises it indeed took your attention away at time and made it hard to hear our speaker.
I'm not a gambler but did pop into the casino as there is really nothing to do in the later part of the evening and I do feel the restaurant closes too early for those wanting a late meal or snack.
The gym was ok with a good number of cardio choices, the weight selection consisted of two benches and a rack of free weights, maximum weight was 50lbs. The pool was clean.
The Hotel is about 10-15 minutes away from West Edmonton Mall and the Hotel offers a shuttle back and forth, I did not use this feature so I am unsure if there is a cost associated.
Overall and nice clean newer feeling Hotel and I would return.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the city.

Very comfortable rooms. Great staff. Nice meeting rooms. Took concierge service which was worth the extra. Stayed for six nights and by end of the stay very glad to get out of the smoky hotel. While you can only smoke in the casino (you can't smoke in the rooms) it permeates throughout the hotel. If you are allergic to cigarette smoke this might not be you best choice. A number of us from our group struggled with that and were quite glad to be leaving the smell and red itchy eyes behind.

Well, my husband and I stayed here for a couple of days of meetings. We paid extra for the concierge service, which was worth it, was hot food laid out twice daily and an honour bar every night.

The buffet was both expensive and of poor quality. I was sick all night and the following day, I think it was the Caesar salad.

Our room was adequate and clean but without character or a view. It was thick with the smell of smoke from the casino downstairs and loud with the hockey group staying on our floor. There is no noise control at all.

I would return only if there were no rooms left at any of the hotels in the West end of town.

I stayed here for five nights for a conference. All of the people who work here are very friendly. Nice large clean rooms with small fridge. Large casino if you are into that. Conference rooms were very nice. Nice pool area. Had two hockey rinks attached to casino.

Things I was disappointed in were a very small fitness centre in regards to weights. Lots of cardio equipment. Restaurants had limited menu's and very expensive. Really disappointed they did not have recycling bins in the rooms for bottles and the morning newspaper you get every day.

The hotel was very close to West Edmonton Mall. Five minute drive. Costco across the street from hotel.

Would stay here again if I was in the area.

Spent three nights here and the rooms are very nice the service is first class service. I would go back again. The food several different options was good didn't try my luck at the tables. The front desk staff were very helpful but make a reservation.

Good value! Check in was good and fast. Rooms are clean, had a view of the City, which is nice at night with all the lights.
The pool is not very big, but water was nice and warm to swim in. Hot tub was good too.
We have brakfast included in our room price, at "the Kitchen", that was amazing!
Definately would stay there again. Would not recommend eating at the Sage Restautant. Too expensive for what you get.

I stayed here while traveling across country and ended up staying here because others were booked up-was definitely NOT a disappointing experience!

Pro's: Beautiful rooms/modern and spacious. Lobby well kept with a nice "buzz". Clean lobby and rooms, as well as a very comfortable bed. Pet friendly for me and my 8lb (hypo-allergenic) little guy :)

Cons: Just one-check in was exceptionally slow, although staff were very professional and polite.

Nice hotel, clean/comfortable rooms-what's not to love?
