Everything in this restaurant is old and worn: the decoration, the carpet, the chairs. Ignore all that and go for the food. We have been coming here for decades, and are never disappointed in the food. It is our favorite place for large group celebrations.
We almost always start with the deep fried squid; nobody makes it better. Winter melon soup, fish maw soup, salt & pepper chicken, crispy roasted chicken, stuffed tofu, sweet & sour pork (no big chunks of fat like other restaurants). I know that egg foo yung is not traditional Chinese food, but the Sai Woo Special is worth a try.
At the end of the meal they will usually give you sliced oranges, dessert choices are limited. If you really want dessert, go across the street to the bakery.
If it is not too busy, you may see an old Chinese tradition at the end of your meal. We have had 13 people at one table; when we were finished the waiter came and stacked all of the serving dishes, plates, bowls, chopsticks, etc. He then carried it away all in one go. Amazing!
