“Absolutely Perfect...like a castle”
Reviewed 18 August 2011

We stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites at the end of a 2 week Alberta holiday that took us through Drumheller, Calgary, Banff, Jasper, Grande Cache and finally Edmonton before heading back home to Saskatchewan. We ended up at the Hampton in Edmonton, primarily because it was one hotel that would accomodate a family of 5. We didn't realize that Alberta hotels seem to have something against families that have 5 members. Most were willing to book families with 4 members, but quite a few actually turned us away due to us having 5. That's how we ended up staying at the Hampton...unlike some of their competitors, they actually wanted our business and accomodated our 3 kids.

Upon checking in we found out that we were booked into one of the suites. The Front Desk attendant actually said "Wow I've never seen this room at this price!". So we had some idea right off the bat that we might be in for something special.

As we walked into the room, our kids said "Wow...look at this room...it's like a castle!" We were all amazed at the size of the room and the decor of it. It was incredibly spacious with a sink/miny bar by the door, then another sink/vanity outside of the bathroom. The bathroom itself is very modern with a lot of room. Beds were great quality and were very comfortable.

In addition, we were told that we could come down for a continental breakfast in the morning. My definition of continental breakfast is a few muffins, pastries, coffee, and juice. Well their continental is basically a full breakfast counter that included cereals, toast, bacon, eggs, pancakes, fruits, muffins, pastries, and a do it yourself waffle station to make your own fresh waffles. INCREDIBLE!

So right off the bat most of you are probably saying, well you must have paid an arm and a leg for this room. You couldn't be more wrong! This was the best hotel that we stayed in over the two week span, and it was the best priced one as well.

We didn't take advantage of the pool since we were going to the West Ed Mall waterslides the next day, but the pool would have made it's value even that much better.

We will definitely be back and won't even consider looking elsewhere to book rooms when in Edmonton! This place is a gem!

Stayed here with a large group in late July early Aug. Rooms were huge and very clean. Large selection for the free breakfast and more importantly, good coffee. Bonus for some in the group that the pool was open late. Would stay again.

This hotel is lovely and the rooms are beautiful. The service was excellent and we really appreciated having tea and coffee available in the lobby at all times. The breakfast was large and delicious and all of the utensils and plates etc are compostable which is a welcome change from the usual styrofoam. This hotel seems to go out of it's way to try to personalize your stay wi a welcome card and a floatie children's toy. Highly recommended!

Stayed here for 2 nights on the back end of a week-long visit. The rooms are comfortable and inviting. Nothing too fancy, but that was exactly what we were looking for. It is certainly a "down-level" brand of the Hilton family chain. We had stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn earlier in the week and there were small, but noticeable difference in the quality (but not necessarily the service). For example, the breakfast options were more limited in comparison and you ate on paper plates and used plastic utensils at the Hampton instead of dishes and steel utensils. The toiletries were of a lower quality. But this is to be expected. We were not disappointed in our stay and would consider staying here again should we ever visit West Edmonton.

TIP: For a delicious meal, walk across the parking lot to the Marriott and eat at the restaurant on the ground floor. 3 of my family members are vegan. We didn't see anything on the menu and asked if the chef could come up with something. The chef offered several different options and we settled on a pasta marinara dish with a side of roasted vegetables. It was so good that my father-in-law asked to speak to the chef in order to compliment him on the delicious dish. This was one of the best meals that we had while visiting Edmonton. Ask the Hampton Inn front desk for the 15% discount coupon to eat at the Marriott restaurant.

Wow, what can I say? After driving straight across the country from Nova Scotia we stopped in Edmonton at the Hampton Inn & Suites... The guy at the front desk was exceptional! After getting us checked in, he came from behind the desk and pointed out different services at the hotel and to talk. I've been a manager in the customer service industry for 10+ years and this kind of personal touch is top rate! It was a wonderful personal touch. He also had a blow up toy of choice to use in the pool for my daughter.

The rooms were tastefully decorated, modern and perfectly clean! The bathroom was modern, up to date and again, very clean! There was even a safe in the room. The high speed wireless internet was fast and easy to use.

Now for the really touching part... My daughter forgot her Teddy Bear she's had since birth and he got mixed up in the sheets and taken down to the laundry room. We were in a panic, 5 hours from Edmonton, tearing the truck apart looking for Teddy. After a few frantic calls to the hotel, Teddy was located and Fed Ex'd to us the very next day! They put a necklace on him and sent along a special note from Teddy about being separated from his family. This meant so much to us and my daughter couldn't be happier to be reunited with her special friend.

This folks, is top notch service! So if you're looking for a place to stay in Edmonton, you'd be foolish not to book here.

Not to mention the free breakfast and wonderful pool facilities with children's pool and mushroom waterfall system.

Thanks, Hampton Inn & Suites! We'll be back!

Very clean, quiet and nice. Staff were great. Free breakfast in the morning that was wonderful. Five minute quick drive to West Ed Mall.
Only complaint was that the pool was out of service for most of our stay.

Have stayed here several times and thought it fair that I review as the quality of stay is very good. rates are good at this West end hotel. Quality is standard Hampton. This is not the Ritz Carlton, but neither is it the No Tell Motel.
Great, comfortable rooms, great bed, work station, shower etc. Hotel is generally quiet and the service from the front desk if you need anything is always attentive.
No on site restaurent or bar, but hotel does offer breakfast every morning. Good quality, toast, coffee, juice, fruit etc.
Swimming pool and fitness center available on site.
There are a number of decent restaurents in the area, and all directions of travel are easily accessed. No mass transit aside from city buses, and airport is a long way.
Highly recomend, especially for business travel
