“Great place to stay in Jasper National Park”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 October 2013

We stayed 2 nights at Becker's. The location beside the Athabasca River is breathtaking. The chalets are rustic and charming. Becker's is a short drive to many attractions in the park and to the town of Jasper which make it a great place to stay! It's not a 5 star resort but if location and rustic charm is what you are looking for, then this is the place for you!

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the upper 4-plex units. The description when we booked said the 4-plex overlooke...

We rented the basic cabins - there are also more modern ones. Had all we needed for my husband, mother-in-law and I. Fireplace - well equipped kitchen (although small). Each bedroom had a double bed and there was a single day bed in the living area, but I think five people would be very cramped in the space. One bed had a very soft mattress, the other a firmer one.
We would return.
Also, I left a earring in the room - I thought I had lost it forever, but when my husband asked about it; it was mailed back to me. Appreciate this very much.
As others had mentioned, the Chalets are out of town by the Athabasca River - wonderful location.

Stayed here as part of a group of 12 adults and 1 infant. We stayed in a deluxe lower 4plex for 2. The rooms are a little dated but this is part of the charm. The facilities were great, bed comfortable etc. The location is stunning. We ate at the restaurant and were very impressed. We also hired a bbq one night and cooked our own dinner. This was a great option in a big group. The Chalets are outside Jasper so if you want to be in town this is not the place. It was perfect for us as we preferred to be out of town. We would stay again.

I'm no fan of big chalet parks but that seemed to be the choice if you want a scenic location in the Jasper area.Didn't fancy the 'in town' basement conversions which seemed to dominate the booking options.Having been in Jasper itself, very glad we didn't stay in the town.Fancied at least being beside the magnificent Athabasca River and Becker's offered that.My heart DID sink as we drove in - chalet after chalet, mega busy but we had been allocated No 42,one of the traditional heritage bungalows for 2 in a quiet location (the last chalet) and surrounded by beautifully manicured grass and a nice river view through the pines.Very happy with the location.Inside, yes 'chalet-like' 1980s type decor but well done, very clean and well set out for self catering.Bathroom a bit basic and utiitarian but fine. Our own sitting out chairs and a bench near the river too.A few miles outside town, which I preferred as we had the car anyway.Nice and quiet at night. We were near the guard dog enclosure and he was very quiet - unless he spotted wildlife! We raced out when he started barking one evening , to find a huge bull elk grazing in the woods beside us with his little harem of females.Canada geese flew in to graze on the grass each morning.Chalets nearer the road must be quite noisy but we were far from this.I wasn't looking forward to this accommodation that much but the whole place seems very well run and we enjoyed our stay here very much.

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room with river views and got Chalet 42, the last one on the river frontage.Ver...

Four adults and one infant stayed here for 3 nights in early October. The resort property and individual cabins/chalets are very attractive and well maintained. The setting is peaceful next to the river and away from Jasper town. We rented a bbq for an extra $5/day as we planned to cook our own dinners. A playpen was provided for the baby. The deluxe duplex loft units are genuine log structures with large stone fireplaces. There are two beds in the loft and one in the main floor bedroom. The small kitchen had all the basic equipment. The only major issue we had with this place was the quality of the beds. They were too soft in the opinion of all the adults - sleeping two people in a bed resulted in a hammock effect with both people rolling into the centre of the bed. Moving the mattresses off the box springs and placing them directly on the floor resulted in a slightly better sleep experience, but having mattresses on the floor was inconvenient and awkward (and still too soft). We complained to the front desk but they said they couldn't do anything for us as they claimed they didn't have units with better beds. Before booking, we had checked other resorts/chalets in the area but none had large log chalets like this available for these dates so we decided to remain at Beckers for the next 2 nights and just put up with the uncomfortable beds. For $240 (plus various taxes) per night we expect to have decent beds. For this reason we would not consider returning to this resort.

Room Tip: There are several different types of cabins/chalets here. Make sure you know what type of unit you a...

We stayed in the 'Deluxe Log Chalet for Two' in one of the fourplex buildings in the top level and it was great. After reading some of the reviews before arriving, we were expecting a small and rustic experience, but we were pleasantly surprised. The full kitchen and living room is really nice. We also enjoyed the balcony, vaulted ceilings and gas fireplace. I think we were the only ones in our fourplex so we can't comment on if neighbours would be noisy or not, but the neighbours we did have behind the cabin (some deer) were a nice surprise!

I also left my iPad in the chalet, but the staff at Becker's reported a missing item right away and were able to ship my iPad back quickly. Great integrity! Thanks again!!

Room Tip: We enjoyed the upper level of the four-plex because it has a balcony.

We stayed in a fourplex and everything was PERFECT!!! I would love to return and stay in a cabin. Full kitchen, living room with gas fireplace, nice and clean bathroom. The bedroom was not oversized, nor did it have a television but had a nice dressing table that I appreciated. The bed was comfortable and the bedding was fabulous. The windows open to the fresh air. When we awoke in the morning the park that the front french doors opened unto was filled with the beautiful sight of a flock of Canadian geese grazing. The entire Chalet grounds are very serene. The view of the river is so magnificent that the entry way into the Chalet property was busy with photographers. This was an unexpected retreat...that exceeded my expectations. The rate was a value for the experience we enjoyed.
