“We'd stay here again”
Reviewed 16 July 2011

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights in a log cabin with kitchen at Jasper House Bungalows in June 2011. The location was superb. The area is quiet being about 3 miles south of the town of Jasper. Our cabin overlooked the Athabasca River, we had a picnic table and chairs on the grass outside the cabin door. The picture window gave us a view of Whistlers Mountain and Tramway. The cabin was extremely comfortable, with a separate bedroom and kitchen stocked with all the utensils we could need. Staff were warm and friendly. Price was very competitive. We'd certainly stay here again.

Clean, quiet cottage with a fully equipped kitchen. The flooring is hardwood, not carpet. So you don't have to worry about allergies. Some of the cottages overlook the river.

The nearby grocery store is just a couple of miles away. Very close to downtown Jasper, yet away from the crowd. Definitely money's worth!

We arrived in Jasper without reservations. The first place we stopped, had only an overpriced, tiny cottage so we headed down the road to Jasper House Bungalows. We took a cottage that was actually an attached duplex but we were never aware of the other guests. The kitchen was very clean as was the rest of the cottage and very usable. The rooms were good sized and the decor pleasing. The cottages are on the river so there was a beautiful trail and small beach on which to walk. One evening we spotted a family of elk in the woods. It was very quiet in the evening. An early rising guest on a bus tour was talking loudly outside on her cell phone, but that was not the fault of Jasper House Bungalows. We did not eat in the restaurant because we used the kitchen. We would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay in this clean and rustic bungalow situated beside the Athabasca River just outside the town of Jasper. The staff were very pleasant and eager to accommodate our needs and the price was very reasonable. Even with neighbours on both sides it did not get too noisy. There was just a coffee pot and a fridge but this was enough. There is a fire pit out in the common area as well as a horseshoe pit. Plus plenty of benches near the river where you can sit and enjoy the sounds of the river and the absolutely gorgeous scenery. We were simply charmed and thoroughly enjoyed our four night stay.

Room Tip: For the best sights pick units 11 - 21 (approx.)

The location is ideal and the rooms were very clean (beds). The dark wood interior and old carpet make it hard to tell if the rest is clean or not. The beds were fairly comfortable but kind of tired and noisy. The couch pullout was probably the most comfortable pullout we've ever used. The resort is fairly quiet but when it is busy you tend to hear everything through the walls. Our cabin shared a wall with the next one and you heard every time they moved around or used water. Overall a decent place but these cabins would be worth less than half of what they rent for if they weren't close to Jasper.

Room Tip: Get close to river and far from office for - noise

The place is lovely, the position on the Athabasca river was perfect, the accommodation was very nice, everything in it you would want. Very close to Jasper, which is initially why we picked the lodges but it was a bonus when everything was so perfect. The owners are very nice and pleasant and helpful. We stayed there for 5 nights and wished we had stayed for more. After Jasper we moved onto Banff and stayed in the Douglas Fir Resort, what a dissappointment, especially after Jasper House was so nice! Douglas Fir is is rubbish! It is in desperate need of renovation. I sent in a report after the holiday to them and the response I got was equally as bad as the lodges, the difference in the accommodation did not reflect in the price as Douglas was no more than $20 a night less than Jasper.
We will definately be going back to Jasper House Bungalows!!!!!!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is fantastic, just a few minutes from the town of Jasper, but you really feel that you are miles from anything - the scenery is simply stunning. We found the cabins clean and entirely satisfactory, with a rustic look (older furniture etc.) Having said that, however, they are very well equipped - TV, wireless, kitchen with necessary appliances, supplies etc., and a very nice bathroom, with toiletries.
The staff (front desk and dining room) were extremely personable and helpful. The rates in September are very appealing, so I think a trip to Jasper (and to Jasper House Bungalows) may be an annual event!
