Took us almost an hour to queue up for check in yet we was certainly not disappointed in the site we got for our RV. Set to the back of the site in a beautiful old silver berch forest. It was a bit of a walk to the central showers but the masses of resident elks make it an enjoyable walk. It's roughly a 40min walk into Jasper town (along the road). We paid roughly $35 for the night.

During the visit to Jasper , alberta decided to camp at this campground close to the city of jasper. flying out of toronto and not an avid camper booked this cottage tent nor knowing what to expect. In a nutshell highly pleased and in retrospect a wise decision due to a heavy shower in the night the tent got tested...pretty well. It is a pre fabricated tent with a wooden floor and two lights ..and baseboard heater ( came to use as it dipped to 5 in the night)..a queen bed and two bunk bed ..with its own fire place/hibachi outside and the picnic table...was perfect...with wildnerss yet the comfort..and easiness of not carrying all the accessories..the staff was friendly and helpful and amenities were at the campground was good and overall very clean. Being close to the Jasper town also helped for immidiate needs and several lovely trails all over. There is a electric connection outside at the back ..not well advertized but good for charging the blackberry..The only issue its a bit crowded but for the location and ease I recommend this ..For serious campers this may be a tad sopisticated...but it suits my style of glamping..and for 90 bucks a night its easy on the wallet...would recommend for like minded folks..specially family with kids...

Room Tip: there are 4 such cottage tent but the parks and canada intend to set up more...booking in the websit...

We went to Wapiti Campground and asked to book one night, The girl at the kiosk advised us to book 2 nights and cancel the second if we changed our minds. The reason, she said, is that the sites are 100% reservable and someone could book the site we were in. In that case, we'd have to move for the second night. We said okay, book 2 nights. She proceeded to do so and her computer froze. After several minutes, she handed us the slips for two nights. They were for two different sites!! She said her computer was frozen and nothing could be done. We went to the first site and it had a bunch of garbage at it. Same thing at the second site. Both sites were very open and non-private. We went back to the girl but she could not give us a refund. We left and went to the Whistlers. Ryan straightened the whole thing out. He gave an excellent, private, great site for two nights and moved our payment from the Wapiti sites to the Whistlers' sites. Thank you Ryan!! You are the best!!!

Room Tip: We like smoke-free circles/sites and Whistlers has them. Wapiti does not.

Thanks to reading a review we checked with the campground regarding our 9 nights Aug 24-Sept 2 ,booked back in April. I read a review that said to check about fire-pits if you had all 3 services .. I did check and we were not going to have a fire pit . Asked if we could change /move sites .. Nothing else in any parks... Who camps without a campfire.. I understand fire bands and have no problem there. But NO fire pit... It should have been mentioned to me at the time I booked in April .. We are new to Alberta and the camping part... Now we have to try and find an area for our holidays ... Very Frustrated ...

We experienced Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper Whistlers campgrounds. They are all managed by the National Parks but Whistlers is by far the best in terms of equipment (even if you could hope to have an other set of showers to avoid using your car for a shower for the clients located at the very end of the campground), available room, proposed activities, children programmes and evening daily shows, information about animals, treks ...
At night, the campground is quiet: railway and highway are far enough.
... and you receive daily visits by friendly elks: great for the children!

Stayed two nights with my two boys (aged 10 and 7) at this campground. It had exactly what I was seeking: trails for hiking or mountain biking right from the campground into the town of Jasper only a few kilometres away, and then town trails hook up with several other trails (of all ability levels) right from there. We had a great three hour mountain bike ride around the area and next to the river. It was awesome. The campground is great - very large sites and amenities are clean and not too far away. It is a HUGE campground, so lots of people there. Jasper is very popular tourist destination, especially for Europeans and Americans, so get to the campground prior to mid-afternoon if you want to be assured of getting a spot. My only negative is the cost. $39 for two days just to stay in Jasper National Park, and then $72 for two nights at the campground, including a fire permit for two nights. It is very pricey, but I guess that's the price to pay to stay in paradise. Deer and Elk right in our campsite over the two days. A huge mamma deer (and her baby nearby) and freaked my kids right out in morning coming out of the tent to stare into the eyes of an Elk! It even licked my older son on his hand. Jasper is a special place. Too touristy, but still special. Not far down the road (in BC) you'll also find excellent campgrounds in Mt. Robson Provincial Park. A little more remote, but stunningly beautiful.

Room Tip: get there early to guarantee you will get a campsite.
