“Quiet, Clean Campground”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 July 2012

We camp at Wapiti every summer, and it is always great. The staff are friendly and helpful. The campground is quiet and each site is separated by trees. The washrooms and showers are cleaned daily. Excellent place to stay!

We have stayed at the Wapiti campground for three extended stays and have enjoyed each one of them. We love the location as it is ideal for all of the main activities in the national park and just a quick bike ride into the town location. The river sites are awesome although you have to request and there are no guarantees. We always make sure we arrive very early on the day of our arrival and have not had problems. Our favorite site of all camprounds we have been in.

We camped here for three nights during the winter to spring changeover. The roads were plowed every second day and the park is only 10minutes from downtown jasper.

The showers are cleaned daily and kept well even through winter.

Highly recommended for campers and rv's. Make sure you have warm gear though if staying in winter as the nights do get quite cold

There is no good campground in Jasper and this one is just ok. For this weekend we wanted to be close to Jasper so we chose Wapiti. We have stayed here before and the last time we got a spot in the trees near the river. This time we were in the W loop which is in a poor state. There are not many trees here and the sites are not private. We were in one of the few tents on the loop making the place look like an RV showroom.
Staff are fine. Just do their job and thats about it.
Showers are good but you may have to drive as they are located near the entrance. If you want to be choice of your campsite get there at 10-11 ish. They won't give let you request a river site over the phone anymore. (Or so they told us)
They only enforce the 11pm rule if you are drunk and noisy.

Great camground with spacious places. Good location close to town. Friendly and helpfull staff. One of two campgrounds with showers in Jasper (the other one is right across the street). As mentioned above, reservations tend to be tricky, if you want a good spot the best you can do is arrive early (11 am). Showers are very clean but can be far away but you can use your car to get there. In reply to the complaint above about fire regulations: these are exactly the same as all other camgrounds in all National Parks. BTW: the guy at the reception told us that it's no problem if you continu after 23 pm as long as you keep the noise down.

We stayed in this campground this summer and though many of this sites along the river are beautiful..... good luck in getting one. We had phoned in advance (weeks) to book a site by the river which we were granted. When we arrived at the site we were first given our site tag and than swiftly it was taken away and we were given another site tag. When we asked if this site was still by the river we were told "no" and our site was already book with her family who had decided to come up last minute. Of course we were angry and demand a discount or a treed river site. we were not given either and the staff was rude insiting that their family would not move for a PAYING constumer and that the site we had had a walking path to the river just across the street. The site we were given was in the center with three skinny trees on one side and no trees at all between the other two sites between us. The "walking path to the river" was straight through someone elses campsite. The other site we had requested was book as well yet no one arrived until the day we were leaving. We also meet a couple who had encountered the same problem with their site. As far as fires go, you have to purchase a fire permit to have a fire in the pit of the site that you have already rented..... RIDICULOUS! and your fire must be out by eleven. Many times we didnt return to camp till 9ish. Waste of money.

The first thing we like in this campground are the showers and washroom facilities, they are clean! Secondly, is the location, we visited most of the popular attractions around Jasper. The only problem we had and I don't understand is their policy of "First Come, First serve"of the sites if u have reservation. We got there before 2pm and we thought we get a better site that's close to amenities but they assigned us instead to a very far site. We found a better site but when we told them, they said it was taken, well, it wasn't for the first night and on the 2nd night, it was taken but only for 1 night. Do i have to make a reservation a year before in order for me to get a better site???
