My family had the occasion to visit the lounge on two occasions this past weekend for some post skating drinks and were so disappointed in the lack of cleanliness. Our waiter seemed oblivious to the fact that our table had not been cleaned. He took our drink order and put down clean napkins and coasters over the food spills. YUCK!!! The carpet was covered in grit. The upholstered chairs were covered in crumbs, with some of the tattered fabric being held together with staples!!!! When the waiter brought us the bill, the bill folder was sticky and crusty. DOUBLE YUCK!! We were left with a terrible impression. On the positive side, the servers were friendly and efficient and the fireplace was a real showpiece.

This hotel is considered to be a luxury hotel, and it lives up to this reputation in terms of the quality of the rooms and the dining experiences. However, we had a disaster occur that soured us very much on this hotel. Jasper is one of the few places in the world that is designated as a 'dark sky zone', and this hotel advertises a special weekend 'dark sky experience'. On the Saturday evening, a guide is supposed to take the guests to a spot in the mountains where the stars can be seen very clearly. On cloudy nights, they are supposed to have a special dome where they project a star scape that would be seen if the skies were clear. I gave this package to my wife as a Christmas present. So we arrived on Saturday afternoon in January, 2014, and enquired as to where the 'dark sky' event would take place. We were told to go and have dinner, and to check after dinner - the event would take place at 8 pm. The skies were cloudy, so we expected to find a room where the dome would be set up. After dinner (which was very good), we again inquired as to where to go. The person at the front desk did not know!. Finally, we got hold of the manager, and he showed us a room where hot chocolate was already laid out, but he sheepishly told us that the 'third party' that organized this event had canceled it at the last moment. Naturally, we were devastated. The manager did agree to cut our hotel bill in half and allow us to go home on Sunday. However, it seems to us that there was no excuse for this situation. The hotel management should have been in contact with the third party several days in advance, and if there was a need to cancel, we should have been informed before we left Edmonton for Jasper. This situation is clearly a failure of the hotel management.

My family and I had planned a trip to JPl for a weekend of relaxation. The lodge unfortunately has been taken over by DOGS. I have never stayed in a hotel that had dogs coming and going like this place. we had a 5month old lab to the left of us and two boxers and a poodle in the two units below us. The dogs were barking most of the day as when the owners leave them locked up in a strange place it will happen. I called on two separate occasions and was informed security will deal with the issue. let's just say nothing was done about it. The day of checkout was the best, when I was asked how the stay was. I had informed the clerk of our issues and she responded that dogs are allowed and we address all issues. however had no record of me calling the night prior. I asked to speak to manager, however he was too busy to listen to my concerns. My wife and I have stayed here between 6-8 times prior and noticed the service has dropped every year. Will never come back as Pyramid lake is much cleaner and cheaper.

Dear Tony C - please accept our sincere apologies for this inconvenience during your stay. As a pet friendly hotel, we do allow dogs in our guest rooms with the stipulation that they cannot be left alone unless they are in a kennel. In the case that they are barking, our Security Department is alerted immediately and our team removes the dog and contacts the guest. We are very sorry to hear that this was not done in your case and that we were unable to address the issue with you while you were here. We do hope you're able to return and stay with us once again. Sincerely, The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge

We stayed recently in a junior suite at the JPL, not to be confused with the Fairmont hotels which are grand and impressive this is a large park with lots of individual timber cabins and each accommodation is housed in one of the timber cabins, some can be quite a walk from the main lodge which houses the bar, restaurants, concierge and health spa as well as shops and a lovely lounge with fantastic views over Lake Beauvert and the mountains in the distance. There are plenty of great walks and there is a heated outdoor pool if you are brave enough!
Compared to the hotel rooms we have experienced at other Fairmont establishments this one was a little dated but nonetheless was clean and comfortable and warm and the staff were all kind and helpful. Breakfast has not got the same range of choices as the hotels either but during weekdays the buffet was a little cheaper, at the weekends it goes back up to around 30 bucks each for the buffet, a little costly for what is on offer. I guess you have to consider that this is a resort aimed at family requirements more than romantic couples, however we both enjoyed the experience and the surrounding countryside is awe inspiring. Many thanks to all who looked after during our 2 night stay at The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodges.

We chose Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge as we wanted to enjoy the natural beauty of Jasper and have all the amenities we came to expect from a Fairmont hotel.

The views around the resort are spectacular. We took a walk around the lake and enjoyed drinks in the main lodge overlooking the lake. For fine dining: dinner at Cavell's was excellent all around.

We were slightly underwhelmed by the furnishings in the rooms. Jasper Park Lodge is a little more rustic compared to the standards we are used to in other Fairmont properties. I guess it goes with the charm of the resort, but I expected more luxury. The only other complaint was the lack of parking near the cabins - depending on the room you get, you might have a long walk from your vehicle to the room. These are minor issues however, and did not detract from our overall satisfaction of the stay.

If you are looking for something to do, we'd recommend an excursion to Maligne Canyon with Maligne Adventures. Although you don't need a tour company to walk on the ice in the canyon, it was well worth the money as they give you the proper footwear, and the guides add tremendous value by explaining so many interesting facts about the canyon, Jasper park, and the surrounding region. It's a very short drive from JPL, and well worth the trip (the tour company will pick you up at the hotel lobby). We also visited the canyon this past summer, and it was likewise impressive to view from the top with the water flowing. This is a great idea any time of year. Try the evening walk if you want a different experience from most.

The Spa was excellent. It was possibly the best spa experience we've had.

Overall, we would stay at this resort again. The best features are the spectacular views coupled with the inviting and friendly staff.

Room Tip: Spring for a lake view room. And, if in the winter, go for the fireplace too!

Hotel lobby filled with stuffed animals on the walls - just gave you the feel that you were in a national park. As part of this holiday we stayed in 3 other fairmont hotels in Canada (Vancouver, Banff and Lake Louise) this one was definetly more informal. Rooms are in blocks scattered over the complex and depending on your room number can be a long walk to the restaurant (there is a buggy for the less able) but if raining you need to take advantage of the umbrellas. Had breakfast and dinner in the Mose's Noose, the dinner was delicious - had buffalo for the starter sitting near the stuffed moose head. A pianist who took requests played in the background. Breakfast was buffet style and the choice was impressive and good quality.
