I had a great time at the lovely JPL for 2 nights. There are so many mixed reviews out there, I'm not sure if I got lucky or they are overly critical. I had no rodent issues(that I know of). It is much less your typical fairmont and more an old school Adirondacks summer camp. It is pricey, but considering the beautiful surroundings and grounds, not overpriced compared to jasper. My room had been updated and the bed was great! The bathroom had also been updated. Yes there is no ac, but with the windows open and ceiling fan it was cold by morning. Pool and main lodge were great. Internet way too slow. Breakfast overpriced but the buffet was good (but no match for the buffet at a Shangri-la). We did get lucky with an end of a building room, which was bigger with more windows than the avg room. so maybe that got rid of the size issues and the fact the room was updated got rid of the other issues. I think it could use some more money put into it to really bring it up to a fairmont standard, but all in all I had a great stay and would definitely come back.

This place is like stepping back in time. It is so naturally beautiful, elegant and understated, I can't say enough about it. What a joy it was to visit. The staff was super friendly, our room was clean and well kept (while not very modern which we thought was charming), the restaurant was great, and the views... I get chills thinking about the amazing views looking at the lake. (or is that the memory of the clean crisp mountain air giving me the chills??!). We mostly were enamoured with the property grounds and the outdoors and did not spend much time inside at all. The price is bit steep for what you get as a hotel room, but you are paying for the one-of-a-kind location and "glamping" (glamorous/camping) type experience. If you can afford it, you must stay here.

We arrived at 9:00 am hoping for early check-in, as the wedding we were attending started at 11:00 am, and we had camped the night before! Our room was not ready, but the staff arranged for us to use another suite for us to shower and change for the wedding. My wife in particular appreciated this! Our bags were then transferred to our suite, which had been upgraded! What a luxury weekend!

We stayed for a few nights at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. The property is just beautiful but away from the town. However, it costs about $25 to get to town one way but this is worth it just to stay at this fabulous property.

The staff are extremely helpful and friendly.

We stayed in one of the beautiful log cabins on the property - which was lovely and you definitely knew that you were living in the middle of the forest in the Rockies - we even had an elk and her baby visit us one night.

I would give the property five stars but the only reason I have given the overall rating as 3 is because of the lack of air conditioning. We visited the property in July when it was very warm. None of the rooms have air conditioning and because the log cabins are spread out over the property with golf carts going up and down - one cannot keep the windows open for want of privacy. There was a fan in the room and the hotel installed another small fan which frankly didn't help much to cool the room. We requested a cooler / portable air conditioner / another fan - and the hotel said they were not able to provide this. We met individuals who checked out of the hotel because of the lack of air conditioning - which is a shame as the property is just beautiful - set in the forest around the lake.

We ate one evening at the brasserie restaurant by the lake - the food was just about ok and the service pretty lousy. I would definitely recommend going into town for dinner as there are so many amazing places to try out.

All in all - the location is wonderful with some beautiful sunsets over the mountains and the lake - but definitely bare in mind the lack of air conditioning when booking at this hotel - which does not justify the expense of staying here.

Room Tip: Ask for a log cabin overlooking the lake!

Dear Shwina,
Thank you for providing feedback of your recent stay with us. We are delighted you found our staff to be friendly are we able to experience some of the wildlife that surrounds us! Please accept our apologies in regards to the temperature of your guest room. We were experiencing very high and unseasonable temperatures which made the guest rooms much warmer than usual. We hope to get the opportunity to welcome you back in the near future! Sincerely, The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.

The grounds are outstanding. The lodges need updating. Lack of air con means guest noise travels through open windows. Beds are comfy, rooms are clean. The staff are seasonal and generally inexperienced.

Dear david E,
Thank you for taking the time to share your valuable feedback. We can appreciate that some areas of the hotel are older than others and would benefit from updated décor. As you touch on, we are in the process of addressing this through renovations and we hope for an opportunity to showcase these renovations to you in the future. We are disappointed you felt our dedicated staff to be inexperienced. Each of our team members and managers are provided with ongoing departmental training, they also attend and participate in seminars which have been created by Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and our own seminars which are specifically tailored to our property and location. Your experience is certainly not representative of the high quality standards we strive to achieve everyday and for that we truly apologize. Thank you again for your feedback. Sincerely The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge

The views and ambiance are breathtaking. The staff is very friendly and efficient. We asked for extra regular coffees for the Kurig in the room and they were there before we got back to the room. This is a semi rustic Lodge as opposed to a hotel. Not all the rooms have air conditioning. Ours did and it kept the room comfortable during the day although there is so much to do we did not spend much time in there. At night even in July the weather is cool in the mountains.
If you're into outdoor activities and up close and personal with wildlife this is a great hotel
One problem is you are an captive audience, (there is s shuttle to town at $5 each way.) and the restaurants are expensive and the food and restaurant staff is not quite up to what you would expect for the price.
Not typical for a Fairmont is that robes and slippers are on request only.
There are refrigerators in the room which is nice. So go to town and stock up on any beer, wine and beverages and enjoy.

Room Tip: Only a few rooms have air conditioning so if that is important be aware.

I will start by saying we got married here and we love the JPL. The service is great, the pool is lovely and you can't beat the location. We usually stay here in the winter when we can get a discount. However, I would never pay full price. It is far too expensive for what you get. The food in particular is outrageously expensive and not worth the price. It's good, but not good enough to justify the $250+ for dinner for 2. You can save yourself a fortune by going into Jasper to eat.
