“Outdated Hotel”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2011

We went on a trip with 4 adults and had an old fashioned, dark room in the basement. It was too small for 4, but clean. The pool and tub were overcrowded, with lots of unattended children. Breakfast was ok. Dinner choices were poor.

In October 2010 we had booked a room for 3 nights in July 2011 at the Marmot Lodge . We were very upset when we arrived at that Hotel to find they were overbooked and we had been "bumped" to the Lobstick. However having been shown our room and enjoyed a very good evening meal in their restaurant we were rather pleased with the change ! The room was clean and comfortable and the restaurant was amazing value for money. we would recommend this hotel.

All in all a good hotel. The rooms were clean & tidy, the location was good as it was only a short walk to the main street & had one of the trails at the back of the hotel. The food was good in the bar- but it was disappointing that the bar was only open from 5pm so after a long hike we had to wait for a cold drink. Our only real complaint was that there was no safe in the room & while the room was being cleaned the housekeeping team had left our window open. Especially annoying as our room was just below ground level. Just something to remember when you're off hiking etc & don't want to lug your valueables around.

We reserved a room for 2 adults and 3 kids. When we arrived, our room was in the basement of this lodge. Well when we walked into the room, the smell was unbearable! There was no way I was going to take my shoes off, when my husband turned the bathroom light on, mouse (quite big) ran from the bathroom to under the couch. Well I was disgusted, but not surprised as the lodge is very dirty, and is in need of desperate renovations. My husband went to the front desk to ask for a change in rooms. We got a new room, (above ground) but still very dirty. I made coffee and was going to take a sip of my coffee and the cup smelled like BLEACH! I would have rather slept in the car. To top it off, the Lobstick charged us 169.00 CAD for the night. Biggest RIPOFF ever. Will never stay here, or at their sister lodges again. Don't waste your money on this HOLE! HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!!

The room was acceptably clean. I immediately expressed a concern about room 207 being located right beside the lobby. I was woken up repeatedly throughout the night and into the morning by people returning from the bar at 2 am, employees talking to each other, customers using the ice machine and other early-rising patrons visiting in the lobby. When I expressed my lack of satisfaction in the morning I was told that I should have just asked to be moved in the middle of the night (along with my four children, not likely!) Had I been offered some form of compensation I might feel differently; however, I would not opt to stay here in the future.

I was a little bit nervous staying here after reading some of the reviews but our room is beautiful! Our room appears to be fairly newly renovated, and it's very clean and quiet we will definitely be staying here again.

The internet speed must depend on how many people are using it because we found it to be faster than our high speed at home!

All the staff has been very friendly and welcoming, with lots of advice when asked as to where to eat and where to take our kids. The indoor pool is a bit chilly but it didn't stop my husband and kids from having fun.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Lobstick as part of a Titan Hitours trip visiting Vancouver and the Rockies. The hotel is a good 15m walk down a quiet street to the compact town centre where the restaurants and shops are.

On arrival we were quickly booked into Room 358 overlooking the inner courtyard. The room was simply furnished with 2 Queen beds and open hanging space with adequate drawers. There was also an old tube type TV with poor picture quality and a fridge.
The bathroom was compact to say the least, lacking in shelf space for our own toiletries. The rather tacky plastic washbasin counter intruded on the WC so you had to be careful not to bang your head on it. There was no air conditioning and ventilation from the fly-screen covered windows was not great. There was however a very quiet fan to make us comfortable. (Thank goodness it was only May, ore we would have suffocated). Despite the shortcomings we had 2 excellent nights sleep.

The restaurant was reasonably priced and we ate 2 very good breakfasts there. The one evening meal we had was marred by the inability to cope with a party of 10-12 as well as the other guests and we waited a good half hour to be served whilst our companions, who had arrived just before the large party, had been served in 10 minutes. The food was good though.

Another meal was taken as a hotel run barbeque and was also quite good.

Overall our stay was quite acceptable for 2 nights

Room Tip: inner courtyard rooms are much quieter
