“Great value-for-money”

We had booked a queen room with a kitchenette and were delighted to discover it was more like a suite, with a full kitchen & dining area. There was a Robinsons supermarket a few blocks walk away, so we were able to easily self-cater during our stay.

Positives:
Quiet location on the edge of town - we could see herds of Elk near the railway lines from our window!
Heated indoor pool, spa & sauna - always uncrowded, clean and warm
Room was spacious/clean and the staff were very friendly & helpful.

Negatives:
The carpark was treacherous - piles of snow everywhere which were slick with ice in the mornings and became slushy mud puddles by afternoon.
Breakfast not included - we could make our own because we had a kitchen, but the only close option was the onsite restaurant which was a little pricey.
Never any clean towels at the pool, so we would have to take our own.

Overall it was a great place to stay and we would definitely return and/or recommend to others.

Room Tip: We were in the kitchenette wing on the first floor directly above the reception area, which had a he...

Room was newly refurbished, everything was clean and service was excellent.

On the edge of jasper though so location wasn't ideal, but a 10-15 minute walk gets you where you need to be.

The restaurant at holiday inn is a short walk away and food and service is excellent at a good price . I wouldn't bother with the one attached to marmot lodge.

We stayed here for two nights and I was expecting something that was "okay." It was actually pretty good!

The family suite with full kitchen was perfect for traveling with an infant. I was most pleased with how clean everything was, and the kitchen was well equipped and organized. If I could be really picky I would prefer hard flooring in the kitchen area for hygiene purposes, but the carpet was clean nonetheless.

There are nice big TVs and the beds are comfortable. Depending on your neighbors it has the potential to be noisy because of the street access, but you'll find that anywhere else too.

My only complaint was the pool. The pool facilities themselves are quite nice for little kids, but the water was a bit foul. It's been a couple days though and so far no rashes or strange swellings have developed, so I think all's well.

Rating of 3 is probably a bit harsh as there was nothing wrong with the Marmot. Its basically motel type accommodation and there are not a lot of better options in Jasper. The first room we were offered faced the road which would have been noisy so we asked to change and were accommodated with no problem. Rooms are comfortable enough with everything you need including free wifi. We had a comfortable king size bed. The aircon was old and a bit clunky but needed to be on given it was unseasonably warm.

Overall ok for a 2 night stay and bottom line is that you are out all day touring so as long as you have somewhere comfortable to sleep (which you do), you should be ok here.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms facing the road.

We spent two nights at this hotel in Jasper, did not know quite what to expect. When we checked in we were told we had been upgraded to a Standard room with a King size bed, we were unsure what type of room had been booked as all our rooms on this trip have been booked
by the travel agent. The room was quite spacious with a very comfortable king size bed. The bathroom looked as if it had recently been refurbished as everything in it looked new. The bedroom too looked as if it had been redecorated and everywhere was spotlessly clean. The towels were snowy white and fluffy. The basin was outside the bathroom which we found handy. We had a small problem with the fridge, it did not work (seem to have bad luck with fridges) but this was dealt with promptly and a new fridge installed. Check in and check out were painless and all staff courteous.
We would definitely stay here again

We stayed here for one night as a family in one of the deluxe kitchenettes. It was great. The room and pool area are very clean and well kept. Fully supplied kitchenette. The lodge is just far enough from downtown for a nice walk. Will be back.

I've stayed at the Marmot before, and for a weekend getaway, it's always been a pleasant place to stay. I've enjoyed the indoor pool, and the prices are comparable with other Jasper hotels.

On the May long weekend, my wife and I booked a stay there. When we arrived, we noticed a lot of kids wandering around the parking lot and the outdoor hot tub. I asked, and was told there was a peewee hockey tournament in town that weekend. Many of the rooms had been booked by parents for their team members.

We got into our room (ground level, back) then decided we'd walk over to the hotel restaurant for supper. On the way there, we came across a kid peeing up against the wall by the outdoor tub - I yelled at him to go back to his room, but the experience threw me off.

We got to the restaurant, and asked for a quiet table. I was annoyed by the response of the host when i mentioned the urinating kid - his reaction was that 'boys will be boys'. We were seated in the bar, but the screaming of the ids seated in the restaurant section was loud and annoying. The prices were high, although suited to the gourmet menu. Fine dining in a Chuck E Cheese atmosphere? We went somewhere else for supper.

The room itself was nice - thoroughly renovated, with comfortable beds, a flat screen TV, and a modern shower enclosure. I've stayed in any hotels and have learned from experience that bringing ear plugs is a good thing to do. We went to bed, hearing people walking across the parking lots and walkways talking late into the night. For a pre-season weekend, the hotel was pretty solidly booked. The earplugs certainly helped.

The next day we got up and left early, and enjoyed the wonderful sights of the National Park. Unlike Banff, Jasper is less of a tourist trap and a more 'real' town, and it's scenery far surpasses the more southern areas.

Back to the hotel, to deal with more screaming kids. The pool was full as was the outdoor hottub, so we skipped a hoped-for break there. I talked to the desk about the noise and the lack of control the parents had over their children, and while they sympathized, they responded that there was only one security unit for the four hotels in the chain. While they could drop in if there were any obvious problems, they wouldn't come down for a few noisy guests unless it was really bad.

We went to bed, only to be kept awake again, not by the kids, but by their parents! A few of them decided to hang out on the walkway outside our room chatting about the day's games, and drinking beer off the back of a pickup truck. We waited a while hoping they'd go away on their own. To their credit, when I finally opened the door and asked them to leave, they packed up and moved somewhere else.

This review is obviously more about the quality of the guests at the Marmot, and the lack of hotel security, than it is about the hotel facilities themselves. Regardless, what should have been a very special weekend for my wife and I turned into an ugly and unpleasant one.

I can appreciate that hotels want to stay fully-booked in the off season, but management should be aware that more stringent policing is needed to allow regular guests and large groups of children (and their drunken parents) to co-exist peacefully. And management should fire the guy from the restaurant who figured it was okay for kids to be peeing in the parking lot.
