Alpine Village Cabin Resort - Jasper

Reviewed 3 June 2014 via mobile

We stayed here for three nights in September. It is a nice resort in one of the most impressive NP's of Canada and maybe even the world. It is a short drive to the charming town of Jasper. Cabins are cosy and adequate, nothing really special.

Alpine Village definitely lived up to our expectations! We stayed for 3 nights in the #16 Family Deluxe Cabin, and it was perfect. It is close to town ( never paid more than $10 one way) so it was easy to go shopping, out for dinner & drinks. There was plenty of room for 4 in our cabin, and the extra 1/2 bath upstairs was great with 4 women :) The view was awesome. Our cabin was only a short 2 min. walk to the river, where we relaxed and enjoyed the scenery. The staff was very nice and we are already looking forward to our annual girls trip next year! Thanks:)

Room Tip: The Family Deluxe Cabin was excellent for 4. # 16 is a great location.

The location was the best part of Alpine Village. The individual log cabins are spread throughout the property in a quiet wooded area (right across the street from the Athabasca River). It was so nice to wake up every morning surrounded by trees.

We stayed in a Deluxe cabin (G) which was nice. Given the fireplaces in the cabins, there was a constant smell of smoke in the room which my husband and I couldn't get used to even though we didn't use the fireplace. The room was spacious with a nice porch and chairs. Great water pressure! The cabin had a microwave and refrigerator (no utensils or plates though). There was free wireless internet. No phone in the room, but there was a phone by the front desk. There was no restaurant on the property, but there are several markets in the town of jasper which is about a 5 minute drive from Alpine Village. The staff were friendly and professional.

We stayed here for three nights and didn't want to leave. Absolutely stunning location, not far from town. We had a beautiful lodge, no.11, with good sized lounge with open kitchen furnished with everything you could possibly need. It included a breakfast bar too. On the same level there was a double bedroom with walk-in wardrobe. Lounge had an open fire and you could buy firewood c$5 or chop your own for free.

Lovely bathroom complete with bath and powerful shower. Heated flooring.

Upstairs there was a toilet adjoining an area with a double bed and separate single bed too.

Next to reception area was ice making facilities and a hot tub.

The village is just off the 93a north highway and situated around the beautiful River which we went white water rafting on, which reception organised for us and added to our bill.

c$10 for taxi into town which reception were also happy to organise for us. One day the owner was at reception himself and insisted giving us a lift to town in his own car.

I have travelled all over the world and this is one of the most beautiful locations I have ever stayed.

If I travelled again to Jasper this would definitely be my first choice of accommodation.

Room Tip: We stayed in cabin 11 and there was no noise from the road.

Stayed here by myself for 4 nights, in the "New Executive one-bedroom cabin" (cabin O). The office and some of the cabins are less than 100 feet off of highway 93A; mine was about 150 feet further back and was blissfully quiet. The only neighbors are woods and wildlife, yet I walked the mile to town several times. My cabin had all the comforts and more than one would expect, including microwave, fridge, underfloor heating in the bathroom (works great!) as well as nice soaps and creams. Basic flatscreen TV service. There's a nice wood-burning fireplace, but the central heating should be adequate year-round if you prefer push-button comfort. My deck overlooked just woods, but the mountains are right there and visible from the entrance to the property. Staff were always available, friendly, and helpful - and I noticed there were always two on duty during office hours. Note that there's no restaurant on site, and wireless can be difficult to access, but I was able to get to my e-mail every day (eventually) - that's the one thing I'd try to address if I were the owner.

Alpine Village is one of those places that you drive by and think........'that looks like a beautiful place to stay.....one day...." Well that day arrived this year. We rented a one bedroom cabin for midweek right at the end of the 'low season'. Cabin was beautiful and well appointed (heated floor in bathroom). Fireplace was nice and we were looking forward to relaxing evenings by the fireplace and hopefully have a front row seat to wildlife wandering through the property. We were warned that hot-tub area was closed and under renovation - no problem. Bought a bag of wood to burn in fireplace and it was damp and didn't want to burn. Came back from town to a note "power will be out for ~4 hours this afternoon. " (OMG the hockey game!) Overall, we got what we went for - Peace and Quiet. Will have to give it another try........one day.

Room Tip: One bedroom cabins are newer - large decks - #s 21 - 25

Having stayed in Jasper numerous times over the decades at many different locations, including the JPL, this has become our go-to resort over the past ten years. Alpine village is a scenic and quiet location on the river, 2 km. away from the town itself. Easy 25 minute walk mostly on a trail in to town, and a very short drive. The location offers outstanding views of mountain, river and forest. The accommodations vary from small cabins to very luxurious larger units, including family units. We have stayed in them all, and they each have their own charm or amenities to offer, depending on your needs and price point. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else when in Jasper, including the JPL. Note however that it is a quiet resort, a couple of times when we went as a larger group we were encouraged to keep the noise level down! Not a bad thing....
