“misserable reception staff”
Reviewed 7 September 2011

We had driven all day to get here and this was without doubt the worst reception we had from any service person in the 3 weeks we were away. And when leaving it was no better. Tour buses arrive outside your window from 07.30 if your overlooking car park.
Had one meal in hotel on first night then walked to town threrafter.
Bedroom large with nice chairs but beds hard as were pillows.
Would not stay here again.

Room Tip: Dont get a room overlooking car park.

Found the Chateau Jasper to be a great base while in Jasper. The staff were very helpful and the room excellent with very comfortable beds. We enjoyed a very good breakfast and had dinner on our last night which was very good value Many thanks

Jasper is an expensive place. This was one of the hotels in our price range, and we found it to be a solid, clean hotel. Not particularly fancy, and as other reviews may indicate, the rooms are a little dated. However, I can't honestly say we had any issues with the room. Staff was helpful.

The internet was very slow to connect the first night, but was functional thereafter. The speed wasn't anything to brag about. There is a computer in the lobby with free internet access.

We arrived in Jasper late our first night, and we ate at the in-hotel restaurant. The philly cheesesteak sandwich was surprisingly decent.

Jasper Tips

- Go to The Bear's Paw bakery in town (about a 5-10 minute walk) for breakfast. The raspberry-white chocolate scones are the best I've had in my entire life. We went here every morning in Jasper. I still dream of those scones.....

- Jasper Tramway is definitely worth visiting. Hike to the top of the Whistlers (about 1 km I think). The air in thin up there, and you have a great view of Jasper townsite. WARNING: It is cold up there people. Pockets of snow could be seen clinging to rocks. With windchill it was probably a few degrees below zero. You would be surprised how many people (adults and children) were up there in flip-flops, shorts, mini-skirts and tank tops.

Our family stayed at this hotel for one night in August 2011.
Kids loved the fact that it had an indoor pool.
I found that the double beds in the room were a little on the small side - we normally sleep in a queen. Attached lounge and restaurant were visually appealing, had drinks late afternoon. Breakfast buffet was below average.

We are a family of 5 and stayed here for 2 nights. Overall we were disappointed and hopefully this isnt the best that Jasper has to offer! Having said that, the rooms were large and the beds comfortable but the decor certainly looked dated and the bathrooms functional. We did use the (indoor) pool which was good and large, with lots of sitting area around it.
The staff were OK - we requested a room move which took them over an hour to do, initially telling us it would be 20 mins. However, they did apologise and sent us a small bottle of wine which was a nice touch. We did see a King Bedded deluxe room which looked very nice but we didnt want to pay the upgrade price. But even if the bedroom is OK the rest of the hotel is not, overall impression is dark and dingy. A major refurb is needed!
I definately wouldnt stay here again without evaluating all other options! But it is a perfectly standard motel and did the job. It is a ten minute walk into town so the location is fine - in summer that is!

Our two hights were faultless. We were in a large room with two King size beds and a small sitting annexe. We ate in their resuraunt as we didn't see anywehere in Jasper that looked better and the service and food quality was good. The walk into town takes about 10 minutes but when we needed to get us + luggage to the station the reception arranged for their own vehcile to take us (no charge). Nice sunny pool and spa area too.
