Overlander Mountain Lodge
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 6 January 2014

I was looking for a chalet for rent over the Christmas holidays for our family and was able to secure Chalet # 132 at the Overlander (three bedrooms, 2.5 baths). I was always impressed with the quality of service and responsiveness. The Overlander is located East of Jasper (40 minute drive) and is up from the highway (which limits noise) and surround by trees. I noted that compared to other lodges (right on highway), the Overlander is quite secluded. As well, there are no large street lights so you can enjoy the night sky. The chalet was quiet and peaceful. The chalet has a tv and dvd, but no satellite. There is internet, but it was intermittent. The kitchen is very well stocked, we were able to cook our holiday meals. The beds were comfortable with duvets to keep warm. One thing to consider is that the master bedroom is quite large and one of the rooms is a bit small so if you were sharing with couples, this might be an issue. I would describe Chalet # 132 as an older maintained cabin with a great gas fireplace. It was comfortable, warm, and clean. You are 15 minutes west of Hinton, where you can purchase groceries and are close to the hot springs. If you want something more upgraded, I would recommend booking one of the other new cabins and still enjoy the good service and beautiful lodge.

Room Tip: Chalet # 132 has good use of space and ample parking in front. It is located near the beginning of...

I was looking for a weekend of relaxation after a busy Christmas, and I found it at Overlander!
the rooms were very cozy, and when I first noticed there was no TV I was a bit worried about how I would pass the time, but it was just what I needed.
The lobby was comfortable, with the huge wood fireplace and home-like feel.

but most important the staff. I would like to point out John at the front desk, he is so polite and helpful and has a smile at all times. I hope you see this John and know what a great job you are doing :)

It had been a long day and we had driven up from Banff to Jasper taking in the sights and it was getting dark --here we were on the highway -not a light to be seen when there it was ,just the briefest of signs pointing off the road to The Overlander mountain lodge . It truely was a lodge and the accommadation was individual cabins . The main building had a fine cosey restaurant with good food and choice .It is a remote spot so no thoughts of going off anywhere for a drink or meal --Jasper is nearest at 60km . When we woke next morning the views were stunning .

From the moment we arrived we just felt so at home, the staff were friendly and welcoming. in the main seating area there is a large open fire, which was so nice in early October.
The breakfast was a buffet type and there was plenty to eat & drink, I do recommend you eat in the evening as the food is of the highest order.
There are no TV's in the hotel, but that's not a problem, the hotel has free WiFi.
The hotel is about 40 minutes out of Jasper on the road to Hinton.

I see that my original review of this overpriced place has been deleted. Thought it best to rewrite it. I had looked forward to staying here all summer but it's been over three months and I'm still upset about how my family was treated when we stayed here. Management was arrogant, rude and unprofessional. WAY OVERPRICED!!!! So close to highway so hardly got any sleep. Food was good at the restaurant.

We have stayed at the Overlander about 5 times over the past few years, and always look forward to our next trip. The rooms in the lodge are very cozy, as is the sitting area and restaurant. Every table has a view of the mountains, which adds to the ambiance. The staff are fantastic....several have been there for a number of years, so they know the area, the menus, and make you feel at home.

Room Tip: Mountain view rooms in the lodge are the nicest, although the cabins are fun also.

Spent two nights in the Fall at the Overlander. Had a wonderful weekend - staff were very efficient and friendly. Our first night there we are in the hotel dining room - excellent meal and service. Also enjoyed the Continental breakfast that was included. Rooms were cozy - loved the fireplace. Went to the Hot Springs nearby and Jasper for the day. We definatelu plan on making it a yearly trip.
