“New Ownership?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2014

Stayed at a B&B and Syrahs was not recommended by them. Turns out they had not beenb there in several years and Syrahs had since changed ownership. Glad we went as it was superb. Had an elk stew that was delicious. Service was timely and very professional. Jasper is a very neat village and if your into "people watching" it is a gas!

“A "Find"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2014

We came across Syrahs of Jasper while walking through Jasper trying to decide where to eat. Not wanting to eat at a national chain, what a great find. The food was spectacular as was the service. The Elk steak was the best we'd ever tasted. All the other little touches just made our evening, the chef's taster before the meal and the Arugulu and Thyme biscuits with a butter, the flavor escapes us, to die for. Best meal we've had in a long time and thanks to the staff for making our Syrahs experience one to remember.

“Pleasant evening meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2014

Excellent web site with pictorial menu was very informative and helped us to decide on the restaurant. We only had one starter - the spicy vegetable soup - which was very tasty. The mains chosen were the duck, the halibut and the chicken. All dIshes were well cooked and presented with the halibut being the hit of the three. The chicken was succulent but lacked flavour and seasoning and even a grind of black pepper did not elevate it to memorable heights. The sweets consisted of lollipop cheese cakes which were a 'hit' but the pear dessert was a disappointment with a soggy pastry base and rock hard frozen ice cream. Despite the aforesaid disappointments the restaurant staff were very pleasant and knowledgeable, and the restaurant is worth a try, but it is not one of our highlights of our tour of the Rockies - but we have been spoilt by some 'high end' meals.

“Great West-Coast food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2014 via mobile

A few nights ago, we had an enjoyable dinner here. The restaurant interior itself is rather simple, but does have a nice atmosphere. The service was good as well. As for the food, we had the scallops (yummy), the duck spring rolls (a bit average) and the cauliflower and parmesan melt (delicious!) for our appetisers. We also had the chicken, the pheasant (the special of the day) and two times the meatless loaf. All food was nicely presented, tasted fresh and wasn't too heavy. It was a bit pricey, but a nice meal nonetheless!

“Syrahs - an enjoyable evening”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2014

Syrahs Restaurant is located at 606 Patricia in downtown Jasper. Recently opened, it is small, narrow and a little dark. Syrahs has a long bar with adjacent tables, at one of which we were seated. Reservations are definitely suggested. My wife and I were in Jasper for 4 evenings and this was the most enjoyable dinner we had.

Syrahs served salt and cheddar biscuits to start which were excellent. We shared a Caesar salad and another appetizer. My wife ordered the veal chops and our waitress suggested the BC salmon over the artic char. I asked for my salmon to be medium rare so it would be moist. My wife’s chops were perfectly done and very tasty. My salmon was medium to medium well and very dry but had a delicious sauce that accompanied it. For desert we shared the chocolate brownie which was again, excellent. With a glass of wine each, our bill with tax and tip was almost $120.

So a mixed review of the restaurant. Great service, small portions, very showy presentations, a disappointing salmon entrée, a little noisy and not inexpensive. Still our most enjoyable evening in Jasper
