“You definitely have to do this!”

Very professional, great gear, beautiful views! Our hike lasted three hours and the frozen waterfalls were amazing. We did the evening hike in April so it was light throughout and not too cold. The tour guide was lovely and personable and we even got to go spelunking quickly. Such a great experience!

“Great Ice Walk”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2014

This was a great hike into the canyon. Our guide knew a lot about the area and was very friendly and easy to talk with. There had been some warmer temperatures before we went and though it made for a nicer walking day, we couldn't get deep into the canyon because of the melted ice. It was still worth the price to do the trip. You don't need to be in great physical shape to do the walk. I would recommend going earlier in the year to be guaranteed a trip fully into the canyon (as much as you can be guaranteed with the weather). They provided the boots and ice grippers as well which is handy. There is also a bathroom at the entrance of the park and you can leave some things in the van while you walk.

I loved it. Our guide was patient and knowledgeable. I learned so much. He was funny and so very interesting. The griperoos made it easy to walk.

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 April 2014

We went on the icewalk tour on April 1 in the afternoon. When we arrived at the office we were told it would be a modified tour because of flooding in the deepest part of the canyon. I had great expectations before going, based on what other people had told me, as well as, on what I had seen online. I'm assuming the best part of the tour must be in the deeper part of the canyon that we weren't able to see. I feel the price of the tour should have been modified since our tour was modified.
The tour guide Chris, was very good, even though the tour was disappointing. I would recommend doing the tour earlier before flooding becomes a problem.

We are sorry to hear you were disappointed with your Icewalk in early April. The Maligne Canyon is a spectacular place but we are at the mercy of the weather here in the mountains and some unexpected flooding did occur due to warm temperatures and heavy snow. We were keeping a close eye on the water levels and were surprised at how much they rose in such a short period. Our guides are highly trained professionals who are in the Maligne Canyon daily and constantly assessing risk and hazardous conditions to ensure the safety of our tours. On the day of your experience we were not able to access the deeper part of the Maligne Canyon due to flooding but were still able to reach the river bottom and experience some up close and personal touches with the Ice. If you decide to visit Jasper again in winter please contact us and we will show you the best Icewalk possible to ensure your satisfaction!
