We had the Whistler suite, upstairs unit #55. Great location for the view and had a blast using the bike, the kayaks, etc. Our teenager loved it here. The cost was reasonable for the rentals. Bed was comfortable. I do have to say this place does need rehab. It's getting a bit rough around the edges. Owners should make plans to renovate because the location is drop dead gorgeous. The jacuzzi is in poor shape. But we would probably stay again. Staff was helpful and interested in us.

Small room (Cavell room), iced fridge, tiny outdated bathroom, sofa bed had foot higher than head, each family member maybe got 3-4 hours sleep only. Very stuffy; paper thin walls and ceiling - heard everything from neighbours which added to the uncomfortable beds for no rest.

The manager called the other day to discuss the feedback form one can leave at some hotels. To my amazement he told me the resort was a three star hotel/resort. But, I thought at $260+ per night, WHAT! The room was small, not quite clean, furnishings old, trim around windows and doors were old, scratched and needed painting. The washroom need work. The manager informed me that he had been trying to get the owners to infuse $$ to upgrade/maintain the property. Furthermore, it was just Jasper prices. That businesses need to charge such as other times of the year Jasper is like a ghost town. I stay a Delta Hotels or Sheratons when I travel. The day before I was at Alpine Meadows Resort in Clearwater, B.C. at $245/night. These properties are worth the price.

We spent four nights in a Tekarra Suite. After reading some of the reviews, I was a bit anxious, and had warned the rest of my family not to expect much. However, we were pleasantly surprised with our accommodations. Downstairs had a livingroom, small table for eating, kitchen, and a bathroom and bedroom. Upstairs was a loft with a sitting area and another bed for our two children, who loved their "own space". The space was clean and well maintained. The view from our window was spectacular - we didn't want to leave when the last day arrived. We paid a premium price for the suite, but it was definitely worth it for the added space.

The only issues I would raise are that the restaurant on-site was very over-priced, but there are several suitable options in town, which is only a short drive away. As well, as a dog owner, I am always happy that people have options for pet-friendly hotels, but there were a couple of puppies staying the nights we were there, and they barked for hours on end when their owners were away. But this is the fault of the owners, not the lodge.

First, i must say that the location of this resort is spectacular! The view of the lake is stunning and makes the guest feel like he/she is in the middle of the wilderness. The rental services of the boats/kayaks/canoes is a wonderful feature, too.

The staff were most accomodating with any requests that we had.....upon asking for a toaster, one appeared within 5 minutes. A request for a couple of extra water bottles was filled within 5 minutes also.....very attentive staff. Also, a couple of the housekeeping staff (2 girls) were kind enough to ask if we needed help to move our table outdoors to enjoy our dinner one evening.

Now for the bad stuff. The room I requested was a 1 bedroom with a pullout sofa. We arrived and were given a beautiful suite, with a Queen bed in the open. So, after calling to the front desk and waiting about an hour, this was rectified. Upon our arrival in our room, now a 1 bedroom unit with a pullout sofa, we got the shock of our lives. It was so small, I thought that they had made a mistake. But, there it was.....1 bedroom, crammed full of furniture, including a fullsize ironing board, desk and chair, 2 nightstands, armoire.....fortunately, my parents are small and managed to squeeze around the room. The bed was comfortable (sigh), I was told.....decent sheets and pillows.

Now, the sofabed was another story...... my daughter and I found ourselves waking throughout the night, as we rolled into each other nose to nose. If I were not one to find humour in things, I would have been in tears or screaming. Aside from an aching back our entire stay, was the lack of sleep. The bathroom door did not close, without a good shove and in the middle of the night, that was an unwelcome event to remember. Also, the light prompted the noisy fan to start, waking anyone within 50 metres of the bathroom....ie.....the sofabed dwellers.

These units were not the same quality as the ones closer to the lake, in which they had us in when we arrived. The bathroom fittings were old, water stained and it was obvious that they needed a good renovation. The kitchen was dismal.....no oven, an ancient looking 2 burner cooktop and very little flatware. We were not expecting all the luxuries, but at least something basic. The choice of plates was a dinner plate size or something that resembled a saucer. So, for breakfast......you get the picture. Bowls were tiny, too....at least they had mugs for morning coffee.

Wish I could say that the view made up for the accomodation. I get the feeling that Jasper can charge whatever they want, as people will pay these prices in high season. As someone who has done a fair amount of travel, I will definitely not recommend going to Jasper in high season.

We left Jasper with the distinct feeling of being ripped off......

Lodges are ok. Pretty average room but for $238 a night, not really worth it.

We arrived early so the girl on reception held our bags until check in which was great. Went back at 2.30pm to see if we could check in half an hour early and they said that the room was not yet ready but would guarantee it would be at 3.00pm. Went back at 3.00pm only to be told it'd be another 45 mins. This really annoyed me as we'd be hanging around the area for hours.

Spent the morning in Jasper and sat around the lake. As it turned out, the room was ready before the 45 mins and they left us sitting there until we went back instead of just letting us know. We were on the internet in the reception area so they knew we were waiting.

Rooms are very average. We had stayed in Alpine Village the night before so perhaps we were spoilt.

Just had a coffee in the restaurant which was almost cold and latte machine was broken. Fridge in room was also unplugged and we needed to ring the maintenance guy as we couldn't reach the plug to start it up.

Overall I certainly wouldn't be rushing back. Would probably try to find somewhere a bit better but at the time, all other places within the area were fully booked.

One of the most well positioned resort in jasper and having driven through Patricia Lake and The Fairmont, I have to say this is probably the best in terms of location and view of Jasper accommodation. It is right next to the Pyramid Lake with a right of snow capped mountains. The lake is beautiful and boating facilities can be rented from the resort. We were in the one bedroom suite which were quite average in terms of appointments, but quite functional. Small bathroom. However the Loft suites are much bigger and we have already booked to return. There is no children playground specifically but the trails surrounding the lake allows exploration of the trails as a family. One of the other highlights of this lovely location is the Pines restaurant. The food was superb with virtually every entree (mains) tried out during our stay. It is the best restaurant out of all the multiple restaurants trialled during our recent travels to Banff and San Diego.

Highly recommended for a great location and superb restaurant.
