“Average but adequate and comfortable.”
Reviewed 16 July 2009

We booked the Tonquin Inn based on other reviews on Tripadvisor on our trip through B.C.

It is a basic motel with average reception staff (not unfriendly but not friendly either and not particularly helpful). We had a suite facing the main road but it was not noisy apart from the coach at the next hotel leaving it's engine idling the next morning.

We had a fair sized room with a queen bed, a small kitchenette and a living room with another queen sized bed and sofa. Flat screen tv, WiFi, Gilchrist and Soames toiletries. The rooms were dated but of fair size and clean. We did not try the pool or use the laundry facilities. The parking was right outside the room which made unloading ad loading easy.

This is an okay place to stay at for basic sleeping on a road trip. It is not luxurious and is of average price. It is fine as long as you know what to expect. Not sure we would stay here again though.

I was generally satisfied with the quality of the room. The location is great, and the amenities in the room were nice (good TV, free wi-fi, and toiletries). Didn't have much interaction with the staff, but they were not unfriendly.

The only complaint is that people walking past the rooms may be noisy, but that is a consequence of the design of the building.

We stayed at the Tonquin Inn in late June and really enjoyed our stay. We had room 360 which had 4 twin beds and an incredible patio off the room. One evening we picked up a great dinner at the Patricia Street Deli and ate on the patio. The views from the hotel and partially from our room gave meaning to why Jasper is such a beautiful location for a vacation. The staff was full of good information, friendly and very prompt in our requests. The room while a little worn was very clean. I would stay here again without question. It is a little on the edge of town however, it was an easy walk to the downtown.

Not bad - just a tad noisy! Pleasant room, clean and tidy - functional hotel bedroom. Very noisy plumbing - moaned and ground, whistled and clanged just about all night.
Have said would recomment as long as you know what to expect.

We were driving to BC from Edmonton and decided to stop overnight in Jasper. I wasn't expecting to get such a nice room. We had a junior suite, loved the sunken living room area and fireplace. We'll definately stay there next time.

Have stayed at a few different hotels in Jasper now and really enjoyed the Tonquin Inn. We had a dog-friendly, kitchen suite which was newly decorated (very tastefully), clean, well-equipped, awesome bed, flat screen TV, super quiet, just a short walk from downtown, easy parking. It was exactly what we were hoping for and needed - simple, clean, super comfy. Highly recommended.

I agree with other guests who say the rooms were clean, the staff very efficient and friendly, and the rooms well kept. It's just that this and other townsite inns were built with thin walls. Too many times for my liking now I've been lured by winter rates only to have a bad night's sleep because of partiers. New smoking laws also mean that people gather outside their doors for a butt and a chat. It's not fair for me to single out the Tonquin, and not mention Mount Robson Inn or Amethyst which also left me red-eyed at Marmot the next day. Staff always seem to have a "Sorry, but what can we do?" attitude. I wish I'd asked for my money back.
