We stayed 2 nights in July 2011 in a Queen-Queen room. Room was simple but comfortable with lots of space to spread out with luggage. Staff were friendly. Main disappointment was the food service and quality at the hotel pub which I would not recommend. There are plenty of really nice restaurants a short drive in to town to try.

Room Tip: Book directly with the hotel as they will often give you a free upgrade if available at check-in.

We stayed here on our last leg of the Rockies trip and liked the hotel. The staff was nice enough to give us a road facing room and the room was nice too. The air conditioning was pretty old and noisy. Though we didn't mind it, the German couple was not too happy about it and made us switch it off :-) The breakfast was lovely, with a good spread and staff at the restaurant was very cordial. The evening we landed, I tried the bar and the barmaid (sorry, but I forget her name) was friendly and helpful. We got to see some elks on the road one of the evenings and our walks to the nearby store were fun. Also, kind of cool to be living across the rail tracks. Almost small town feel. Loved the hotel, though the Brewster’s staff was surprised that we stayed in Sawridge after the Fairmont Lake Louise trip but I went with the reviews and the value for money I saw in the hotel. The hotel does not disappoint. Few things that need improvement are that there was no staff to help near the pool and I could never figure out where the Sauna was. Also, the wi-fi does not work in your room. I was sitting in the lobby or standing on he stairs trying to use my iPhone Wi-fi to upload pics. The Spa closing in by 7 was also surprising..But, can' complain too much now, can we?

Room Tip: Ask for the room facing the road, you don't want to see the stupid atrium

My wife & I stayed at the Sawridge Inn for 4 nights during our 14 day Rocky Mountain holiday. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff were very friendly and professional, the rooms very spacious and comfortable, and the food very enjoyable. During our visit we celebrated our wedding anniversary and ate in their main restaurant "Walter's". The service, menu choice and quality of food was excellent. We also ate in their second restaurant "Hearthstone" which although was less formal, the service and food was also very good and great value, especially when you compare it to some of the other restaurants in Jasper. Although the hotel is located at the far end of town, it is a very pleasant stroll and well worth the few minutes walk, especially when you can enjoy the mountain scenery on the way. We would particularly like to thank Alan for helping us out when we had problems trying to figure out how we could sent our photos back home via the internet. As for Jasper we saw an abundance of wildlife during our four days and on one occasion we were very lucky to see four bear sightings in the space of just a few kilometres on the Lake Maligne Road, including a cinnamon brown bear, which reared up on its hind legs right in front of us and a female brown bear with her three cubs. Both of these sightings were less than 15 to 20ft from us. Now that's what we call a great holiday.

Room Tip: Ask for a front bedroom on either of the top two floors, which offer balconies with mountain views.

We stayed 2 nights at the Sawridge Inn and loved it! It is beautiful and quiet and still close to town. The buffet breakfast is wonderful. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed in Sawridge Inn at the end of June in two rooms each with a balcony facing the rear parking lot. The entrance/check-in area was quite nice; the restaurant in the center of the hotel is under skylight and very pretty. We did not use the pool or jaccuzi. The rooms, while clean, looked more dated than the other parts of the hotel. We also had the unpleasant encounter of the bathroom above us leaking water (not clean) into our bathroom. However we'll give the hotel the benefit of the doubt as an isolated incident. Hotel staff did come promptly to repair and clean the bathroom once notified.

The only real complaint we had was with the very unreliable complimentary wireless internet. We stayed for two nights, and for both nights on four laptops of various makes the wifi connection kept disconnecting. The hotel literature says it is upgrading their wireless internet system - but we were not advised of this until we checked in and read the welcome letter.

Overall, Sawridge was somewhat below our expectation given the rave reviews on TripAdvisor. On our next trip we will probably consider another hotel.

Management response:Responded 19 July 2011

Thank you for your comments. I apologize for the leak in your ceiling. The guests in the room above overflowed their bathtub which caused the leak. Our maintenance was notified immediately to remedy this. Our wireless system was adequate in the past with relatively few users. We now have more people accessing the wireless service and the system was having trouble when a large number of users were in house. A recent upgrade has allowed for a higher capacity of users. I am very sorry for this inconvenience. The upgrade is now complete and has solved this issue.
