“Great Community Facilities... Nice for Visitors Too!”
Reviewed 20 August 2012

The Jasper Activity Centre, and the neighbouring Jasper Fitness and Aquatic Centre, are wonderful municipal fitness and recreation facilities. I can't even begin to estimate the countless hours I have spent in these buildings through the years that I have lived in Jasper - there is something for everyone, and in every stage of life.

The Jasper Activity Centre also includes the Jasper arena, with indoor skating from September through March. In season, there is also curling, tennis, and a skateboard park. There are also year-round squash and racketball courts, and an aerobics/fitness studio where classes are offered at various times through the week.

Shirley's Snack Bar, in the lobby of the Activity Centre, is good for a quick bite, and her baking is amazing!

The Aquatic Centre has a 25 metre tank (with frequent lane-swimming times each day as well as public swim times), a kiddie (wading) pool, water slide, hot tub, and steam room. Towel and goggle rentals are available.

The adjoining fitness centre has a huge, brand new, bright and airy gym, and a climbing wall.

Staff are friendly and efficient.

“We were there for the Rodeo!!”
Reviewed 18 August 2012

I was surprised at the quality of the rodeo in this small town. The Activity center, which usually houses a hockey rink was transformed into a rodeo arena.... complete with queens and clowns... A great surprise for our stay!!

“Canoe Trip”
Reviewed 13 August 2012

We took the morning canoe trip on Pyramid Lake. We were lucky to have perfect weather which made it very spectacular. Our guide was Chuck who was very knowledgable and talked pretty much non-stop for the 3.5 hours and we learnt so much. There were four of us and one guide which was about right. Lucky to get close to an osprey, all in all a tranquil experience.

“Rock Climbing Adventure”
Reviewed 13 March 2012

We decided to check out the rock climbing wall at the Activity Center on our trip to Jasper. It was a nice facility and relatively easy to find and park. We were greeted at the door by a very friendly woman who answered all our questions and was super nice. We had to fill out waivers and were told that in order to climb you had to have your own rock climbing shoes NOT runners/sneakers (They do not rent any on site) or go in sock feet. We each paid $10 and that was for unlimited usage. We had to take our shoes off before entering the facility (so don't wear your manolo's ladies) and then we entered into the changing room. They have lockers in there to hold your things but make sure to take quarters. After changing we walked through the facility we saw the pool area which looked nice. There was some renovations going on during our visit but had little to no interference with our activities. We had to walk through the gym facility as well which was nice and well stocked for cardio/weightlifting. The rock wall has its own room. There are lots of mats on the floor to catch your falls. I guess we were thinking this would be a supervised area with harnesses and stuff but it wasn't. The walls are set up for what looks like a club so us casual climbers didn't do so well in our sock feet. It was pretty tough. If you have any experience and your own equipment you would have a good time. It was fun nonetheless, but we didn't get up to high. Prepare for some muscle soreness as well. It was a good time if you are just wanting some fun.

“Nice Pool, waterslide, hot tub, etc.”
Reviewed 28 September 2010

It's not a big city pool, but if you're looking for a way to relax after a day of hiking, consider going to the Rec Centre. If you're camping, it's nice to clean up in their showers.

They have a 25 m. pool, about the same size as any other small town one, a kids pool with waterslide, a sauna and a nice hot tub.

Admission is only $6.50 and you can rent a towel for a dollar or two.
