“Lack of attention from management”

Embers Steakhouse is the on site restaurant at The Marmot Lodge, approximately 1.5km from the centre of Jasper. At the time that we visited (mid June) the restaurant was pretty quiet, with only 5 other tables being occupied, so somewhat lacking in atmosphere. The servers were keen, enthusiastic and friendly but lacked basic training, e.g. picking up the wine glasses to pour wine, our soup was served immediately after the order was placed (within a minute), even before bread was brought to the table - this is something that management ought to address as the servers are doing their best but are not properly trained.
The food was OK but our steaks were overcooked, e.g my medium rare had barely any sign of pink meat.
Finally, the wooden room dividers were covered in several days worth of dust - why had management not seen this and taken steps to address?? This problem probably sums up this restaurant - lack of attention to detail, lack of caring - I would NOT recommend and will not revisit myself.

Quite a spread to start your Jasper day. May want to go easy if you're planning a hike or a trail walk.

We ate at the Marmot Lodge's restaurant "Embers Steak House" twice, once for dinner and once for breakfast. It was good value and convenient (just a stroll across the carpark), with a varied menu selection.

Positives:
Never a problem getting a table - service was quick & friendly.
Bison on the menu - delicious!
The breakfast buffet was good value and opened early.

Negatives:
The breakfast buffet was a bit on the boring side and the coffee was very strong (but I find all coffee in North America to be on the strong side, so that's not unusual).

While it's not far to walk into town from Marmot Lodge, on a cold winter's night (or morning) you can't beat Embers for a friendly, moderately priced meal.

Surprised that we did not need reservations on a Sat evening. Seated right away.
Crab cakes were good along with the fresh mixed greens.
Friend's steak was cooked perfectly medium rare.
Shrimp scallop skewers were good.
Both entrees had pickled cabbage and veggies.
Molten choc cake was good too.
Server Dylan was friendly and courteous.
Super full by end of meal.
Just across from Marmot lodge where we were staying on this snowy day.
