“A quiet spot in the middle of the city”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 June 2014

We recently visited the Kerry Wood Nature Centre together with part of the adjacent Gaetz Lakes Sanctuary. It is a lovely spot to go for a leisurely stroll and watch for all the varieties of flora and fauna. Unfortunately, we were on a bit of a tight schedule and were only able to walk the Dr. George Trail together with the side trip down to one of the observation platforms. I would certainly consider going back to walk the full loop of the lakes.

“Peaceful escape in the city”

The loop takes you through a variety of terrain including steep slopes/stairs. We happened to come across two moose on the trails, be aware of the variety of wild life you can encounter.

“pleasant walk”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

Kerry wood is a great place to go for a nice stroll, nothing difficult as far as the walk goes. On a good day you will see wild life, such as deer, on many occasions moose, fox, and of course water fowl. You can also join all the city paved walking/biking trails right from the parking lot.

“Nice, quiet walk around area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 May 2014

Kerry Wood Nature Centre is a wonderful launching point for a day of walking. From Kerry Wood, be sure to walk around Gaetz Lakes. A great suggestion is to bring bikes and hop on the trails along the river... you can't go wrong!

“Trails ok even in winter”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2014

It was a hard winter, lots of snow, so writing a thorough review might be a challenge. The trails that were navigable were easy to walk down for two people and afforded some beautiful views of the parkland. The boardwalk to the observation deck was clear and had safe views of the marshland for all ages and heights. The Centre has a nice bookstore with a wide selection of bird books (and other books of course) and the staff was friendly and courteous. Parking was not a problem with a lot for about two dozen vehicles plus an overflow lot available in the summer.
