“Loved this cabin”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2013

I requested the Gold Rush Cabin specifically because my husband is so into the Klondike Gold Rush. It was adorable. We both loved this cabin. Original cabin was dismantled and rebuilt. It was decorated with a nod to olden times thanks to Doug's wife, but totally modern. Cute kitchen was fully stocked, bathroom had claw-foot tub with shower, bed was so comfortable and a good sized front porch to sit out on and watch the Ferry come and go. If you want to grill, you just have to ask and they will put a propane tank on for you. Doug, the owner, was very friendly, and loves to talk about the restoration. He was helpful about where to go and what to see. Grounds are pretty with lots of flowers. Immaculately clean. Laundry facilities available. My only complaint is that the time allowed on wifi is extremely limited. (Seems to be an ongoing theme for this vacation.) You are only allowed a certain amount and when that is used, it's over for that day. Next day you get your allotment and when its gone its gone. I loved this cabin!!! Highly recommend this place even if the wifi is an issue. Well worth the cost.

After coming over the incredible "Top of the World" highway connecting Fairbanks AK to Dawson City Yukon (Canada) we stayed a night at this clean cabin with well-furbished kitchenette. Right on the mighty Yukon River. Very blissfully quiet. Close enough to town to walk with biking and running trails right outside the door. Low key, friendly proprietors. Definitely a good choice if you're OK with a touch of funky if you are ever in Dawson City.

Three of us stayed at Whitehouse Cabins in the wall tent for three nights in July 2013. Very affordable, very comfortable and very clean. Cookhouse and washhouse are just steps away from the tent, and are equipped with everything you will need to make your meal. Shower was a bit tight for space but plenty of hot water, fresh towels and fragrant local soap provided. Wall tent was spacious with gourmet coffee and teas provided, a roomy fridge and comfortable beds . Also a lovely little porch with tables and chairs to sit out front and enjoy the quietness of being on the edge of town instead of in the downtown area where the partying can going on 'til the wee hours nightly. Tents situated with trees all around so the temp instead was very comfortable despite it being close to 30 degrees outside. Very gracious host and accommodating staff. Would definitely stay again.

I initially chose the WH as it's one of very few dog-friendly accommodations in Dawson. I came across the ferry from West Dawson and it was right there, a block away. I had a very comfortable stay in a full upstairs suite with kitchen and balcony. I found everything in the kitchen supplies that I could ask for in my own place. The only negative was no a/c unit in the room as it was a heat wave and the sun doesn't really set at night in June.

Dog owners - There's an open dog park about 50 feet north from the WH parking lot which is the start/end point for Ninth Ave Trail (going into the mountains behind Dawson). Great for exercising my energetic lab.

After reading some of the reviews of Dawson City accommodation we were pleased to be staying at Whitehouse cabins. We were in a 'heritage room' with a balcony overlooking the Yukon River and the ferry (through the trees). We were not that impressed with the 'heritage' side of things as our own home is 200 years older than this place, but the application of flattened fuel cans to the outside of the house was unusual!. It was comfortable, very clean and well equipped (though the vagaries of the cooker took some fathoming out!) The use of the BBQ was handy and it was a really pleasant walk along the river into town.
What struck us most was the friendliness of everyone who stayed there. The unexpected heatwave in June may have helped!

Our Cabin #6 was just your basic cabin. It was clean, quite and functional. It is about a 5 minute walk to town. If your not interested in cooking your own food you might as well stay at a B&B or hotel room. Our cabin was a semi, so you could hear noise from the neighbours. Next time I would spend a few more bucks and spurge on the private log cabin. Nice owners. Not so nice view thru the bushes.

Room Tip: Stay in the private log cabin

This group of cabins is in a quiet end of town, near the river. We had a kitchenette unit each time, with balcony view of the Yukon River. Very well-equipped kitchens; you can pick up groceries in town and cook nearly anything here. Nice bathroom amenities. Dog friendly.
